Well, the last time I have been there back in 2005 the ladies seemed to be the Thai equivalent of the farang customers in Bier Garden: old, ugly, ragged, scruffy... could not find the hidden diamond in there.

The selection of girls vary from time to time. The best time is always towards the end of the month or beginning of the month. "Rent time" always brings in some of the non-regular freelancers.

Best time is indeed end of the month, preferably on a saturday night (some girl who a "normal" job come there only on this night because they are not working the following day)
Last time I was there at the right time I "caught" a radio presentator who later brought me to Ayuthaya see her Ajarn Sak Yann...One more oil tatoo for me and a very interesting day indeed.
Thermae is indeed a depressing meat market, but if you are cool, offer a few drinks (yes, even to girls you dont like or who are old enought to be your mom...) and take the time to make those girls laught (most dont have such a funny life so a little laught is more than welcome), then you can make some good connection really fast and end up having really nice experiences.
Personnaly I d rather offer 10 "genuine" drinks in Thermae to some freelancers hwo appreciate them than 4 or 6 useless "cola-cola" to some NEP girls who turn their back to you 2 seconds later!

The new Thermae is nothing like the old, which was the original and so far unbeaten Bangkok Star Wars Cantina. Some may come close, but nothing beats the old Thermae for sheer freakiness.
Nothing wrong with the new Thermae, but it does seem mainly for Japanese customers these days, at least on the few occasions I dropped by. The nicer looking girls wouldn't even speak with farangs, including one who spoke good Thai. The Japanese punters got a big kick out of that.
One of the veteran FLers (and I do mean veteran - she was about as old as I am, a scary prospect indeed when it comes to P4P) explained the tendency of nightspots to line up along ethnic lines: "Farang hate Indian man. Yippon hate farang."
That's Occam's razor at it's sharpest and as good an analysis as you'll find. I guess Bangkok mongers won't be joining hands and singing "It's A Small World" anytime soon.
As always, YMMV. The demographic mix at the new Thermae does apparently shift from day to day and maybe even from hour to hour. But when I was there, I only saw the odd farang, both in terms of numbers and personality.
One reason the Thermae could be popular among Japanese punters is the Web site below. It iss in english, but I believe there is also a Japanese version. It hasn't been updated in a long time.

Interesting - just let me add my view as well after decades of travelling to Asia. "farang hate india man." etc. Well - I am not too sure about that if I now understood you correctly. Japanese hating farang?? Well possibly but in a rather different way than just the simple word means. They look down on EVERY other race!
First of all. There is racism in Asia. Less in Thailand than for example Japan. But start talking to thais about japs or india persons.... well all of you know what I mean! I have sometimes run into thais that have expelled such a hate against jap that I was quite astonished!
TG most definitely in general do not like to go with india guys. In that case I believe it is not because of their herritage but they are considered to be real cheap charlies who always try to scam the girls. Do I know that for a fact? Of course not - but it has been heard too often to be discarded.
Just recently I talked to my GF just about these things and it is too long to repeat here. Just in conclusion though: a TG considers herself very lucky if she in facts meats a farang with a good heart and attitude. This is no 1 over any other "race". Now..... dont hit the messenger! This is info I have picked up over many years as I am sure most experienced bros agree with.
For the eventual popularity of jap guys: well they pay dearly! And if Thermae as it is these days is their huntingground - well good luck to them! I have been there only approx 2-3 times last year and was not impressed. But every day is a new day and you never know what you are going to discover!

you said it.......the thai girls I meet said the same thing too. to find a Farang/European with ONE of that trait, is lucky. with BOTH she considers herself hitting the lottery.

i dunno...
the last trip to THERMAE (never been to the older site) provided me with a nice thai girl (like BK says) that needed to pay rent so go a nice LT for 1,500bht. but it was quite deserted until after 11:30pm. then the flood gates let loose with 50% Asian guys, 25% Americans and 24% Farang/European and actually to my surprise 1% thai guys....go figure?
USE THE FORCE....to enforce your will on you thai girl!
