I find the attitudes of girls in both Bangkok and Pattaya pretty poor these days, compared with what they were like 10-20 years ago, with the occasional exception. Anyone else here remember how wonderful the original, non-imitation Thermae was before the Japanese takeover, when it didn't even get started until 2AM? I try to avoid the modern Thermae as it just pollutes my memories of the old one.
Of course if I applied the same rule I guess I would avoid Cowboy, Nana, and Patpong as well! I guess I just keep looking for the occasional exception to the poor attitudes.

Charmonman, what was so great about the old Thermae? I'm serious, why was it "better"?
Because it didn't get started until 2 a.m.? We have lots of places today that only get started at that hour, and some of us like to take home some FL dinner earlier than that, so this would seem to cut in favor of the new, earlier scheduled Thermae.
Because there were no Japanese? Do you have something against the Japanese, or is it just that you resent the fact that some girls today won't go with you because you are not Japanese? It is never easy being rejected, especially by a whore, but I think the Japanese influence is also beneficial to an extent.
Because of the Japanese reputation (true or false, it matters little) for being 3 inches long, 3,000 baht short of a bargain, and 3 minutes from climax, we are now able to enjoy a much more rarefied FL than you will ever find at the BG7 or anywhere else. We are talking about the girl who is truly dabbling in the p$p world. The girl who doesn't really need the money, but wants it. And Thermea offers her a safe place to look for a customer, who will pay her a lot for little, and she can be home in bed before midnight if she is lucky, ready to rise for school in morning.
Now perhaps you are saying, being non-japanese, what good does any of that do for me? They come, but they come seeking the japanese. True. But they don't all find what they are looking for, and, on a day that is slow, they may decide to go with you. You too can have your own slice of manga heaven if you are lucky.
As for your suggestion that the girls' attitudes are terrible everywhere in BKK, when compared to the past. I think that weighty opinion will have to be elaborated on somewhere besides the Thermae thread.
Sorry, I just have a problem with this kind of blanket, oh things were so much better in the past. Why? There have always been girls with poor attitudes. These are to be avoided. But to suggest that you have to look hard to find exceptions today, well, you must be doing something wrong my friend. Perhaps you need a more modern aftershave. In my experience, the girls with poor attitudes ARE the exception.
Or is that you've gotten too old?
My last night in BKK I ended up at Country Road with a cute 20 year old who had dragged me in a couple of nights earlier. The girl who tasted of lobster and gasoline was sitting behind me, happily barfined again. And at my table was sitting an old Swedish bloke who looked like a wizened up version of Billy Nighy (if you can imagine such a horror). His skin was as if stretched on his bones.
But he sat there happily listening to the music, or dancing with his companion (mine's older sister). He said he was married to a Thai woman, but had left her back in the old country, his country. What is she doing, I asked, while you come to here to go mongering. (Okay, I might have used a word like "party" rather than monger, but he knew what I meant.) Working, he said. Running our business. She doesn't mind, he said.
He had long given up on the go go's, he said. Country Road and a few other places in BKK were more his speed. I was anxious to learn more about where dinosaurs roam when they come to BKK. But the music was loud and my 20 year old was growing impatient with all of our chit chat in a foreign language. So I left his other "hunting" grounds a mystery, but imagined Washington Square and BG7. You do not see his kind at Thermae.
Anyhow, I think the girls' attitudes today are just fine. And their hygiene is probably better now. Just MHO.

In the old days, perhaps about 9-10 years ago, Thermae would stay open till 6 am. And you could an LT for only 1,000 B. Damn, those days are gone.

But BK, although prices may have gone up, I think you would have to agree, the quality is pretty damn high these days. And LT for 1K is gone pretty much everywhere else in BKK, so why lament it at Thermae in particular?
I didn't know the original Thermae, but I much prefer the current line up to the one we were getting when I first started going there in 2002. Today's Thermae offers something you could never get before probably. Can you think of somewhere else back then where you could get anything like the level of cute uni girl or G-girl equivalent in a place where you knew who was for sale?
Thermae back then looked much like late-night sukhumvit does today. A real mixed bag mostly. I think the Japanese "theme" has helped create a more interesting marketplace. And the place is still perfect: soft music, well lit, cheap beers. Manga cuties. What more do you want?

Yes, you are right the quality of girls have certainly improved. No complaints about that. I was more bitching about the early closing times. 6 am would have been great.

6 a.m., I agree, would be great. But I do suspect that a fair number of these cuties are early birds, as I do not see most of them migrate to Sukumvit. Some do, but not most of the really young, cuties. Weekend are definitely more mixed on that score, as mornings become more flexible.

It was back in 2000 and I guess back then the standard was far lower-
But ofetn the GO GO next door (who remembers that?) was always getting girls after work-
And remember the old waitress who had been there for 15 years and only got laid off in 2007?
Japanese did two things attract hotter girls and push up prices heaps-
Anyhow

eye candy is nice, but if they will not talk with you or go with you because you are not Japanese whats the point ?
I took one from outside there last night that was fun but she never gets taken by the Japanese, she is just not the look.
I guess that was good for me
