Not so impossible if you have defective color vision as I do.
Red and green are the worst colors for me and when I first moved here four years ago the baht was a real problem for me especially in low lit bars.
I finally found a system of always keeping my baht in numerical order from 20 – 1000. That has worked great for me.
I also add the checks up before I pay the bill and I make a note of what I give the server and how much change I will be getting back. When the server returns with my change I count it.
One incident on Soi cowboy recently after a long night of drinking the cashier gave me back 300 more than I added in my head. When I told her it was wrong she angrily slammed the calculator on the bar and re-added the checks. Then she smiled and grabbed the 300 baht from my hand.
