Don't you just love it when you are looking at a show in any of these good show bars, and some late arrivals, usually young guys, come in and choose to stand as a group right in front of you blocking your view.
I see this happen quite often to some unfortunate victims and wish that the interlopers had had the brain surgery before they left for their holiday.
Preserving the (c) atmosphere and social etiquette in a bar should be of paramount concern, but these guys, especially if they've had a few, get up to all sorts of 'high-spirited' antics that they don't know when to stop and cast the farang further down the scale of regard that the Thai ladies have for them.
Thai ladies usually see them as a joke and not many will readily go with them, if asked to, giving the excuse of a period or something else.
Recently I witnessed a group of them in a Go-Go bar, up on the floor above the dancers where I was happily enjoying the company of a few ladies and looking down through the glass floor at the show.
One of them began to swing wildly on one of the ropes suspended from the ceiling and fell onto the plate glass and steel cross-beams and had to be half-carried downstairs by his friends and out of the bar to get some medical attention.
Priceless idiot. What a great night out I Bangkok. And what memories to bring back home.
By the way, the ladies mentioned earlier in this thread are no longer in Sheba's, having long since moved on.
Incredible how they move around or get snatched up.
In Sheba's alone, during the past two months, one moved to Rainbow 4, left for Hong Kng and is niow back in Issan, packing for another'holiday' in Hong Kong.
Another two left for Baccara.
Three others have moved elsewhere.
Fresh ones have arrived to join the established crew.
Some really nice girls.
The mamasan treats them like ****.
Some good music during the night.
The shows are getting better and better,but it does depend on the girls available at the time on that night, so it does change from one visit to the next.

I would surmise that that board and message gives them the excuse to deny you entry,without giving offense.
It could be that they would use it if they don't like the look of me, or
that they think that I might add to the trouble in the bar or
that there is already trouble in the bar or
that the police are already in the bar and they doubt it if I would pass scrutiny or
that I have been at the centre of trouble in one or two other bars in the soi or nana or elsewhere and news travels fast here, and so would exclude me on the grounds that I was bother but just have to say to me that I was not a member and so was not permitted entry.
Or they migh just see that I was so drunk, it would not be advisable to admit me to the bar at that time on that day if mI wasn't even able to stand on my own two feet.

I have to agree that a members board or notice can be and sometimes is used to discriminate on the grounds of race or colour.
However I have seen guys admitted to these places who, similar to me, don't appear in any way to be WASPS.
I have also witnessed, on occasion, instances where the members board has been used against admitting a few loud and drunken louts in their mid- thirties and fifties who presumably were ethnically acceptable.
I would think those boards which are few and far between, are also used against guys known to have committed past misdemeanours in a bar or whom the ladies have complained about or feel threatened by.
I don't think the boards are used purely for racial discrimination. I have got the impression that they have a multi-purpose role.
It might also have something to do with some ancient sub-clause in the law, which necessitates a measure for such an establishment. They may have got stung in the past for not having one, and are determined not to let that as an excuse for higher BIB fees in the future.
