I took a few BG's there for the happy hour Burger/drink special and some pool. I found it relaxing. I like the burgers!

My opinion, as stated by others, is that Big Mango is a laidback bar. Sitting upstairs on the balcony, you can get a view of the comings and goings in front of and along 1 side of Pharaoh's. I'm not a big fan of the burger there (I'd go for the street bbq skewers), but to each his own, and it will sooth hunger pains. Surprisingly enough, I thought the ham and cheese spring rolls quite tasty.
You can also easily carry on a conversation.
Not pushy for drinks, and NOT pushy to buy lady drinks. IF you express an interest, my experience anyway, the ladies will sit and joke with you, and it is NOT dependent on a constant stream of lady drinks to keep them anchored in place (of course lady drinks certainly gratefully accepted and I certainly had no problem in providing a number).
Depending on your nationality, age, looks, Mango is the other end of the spectrum from the Rainbow 4: specifically, I was noticed at the Big Mango; a "dubai cyclone*" cloak of invisibility enveloped me at Rainbow 4.
Result: 1 beer at R4; 6 drinks at Big Mango. The girls' attitude there was a flashback to the BARS in Nana 10 years ago - fun, rather than a mercenary attitude.
*dubai cyclone: Cyclone is one of the PRIME meat markets in dubai, uae; absolute stunners with prices to match - 10,000 - 15,000 baht LT, and LT can be defined as when YOU fall asleep. Small wallet guys like me don't register there.

First, Rainbow 4 (as other Rainbow bars) cater to Japanese customers. They are the prime target...
Moreover, RB4 girls can be snobby, but I know a lot of them who aren't... actually my live-in GF is a ex RB4 girl and she is the best one so far, both in attitude and night activities.

To clarify, not to contradict: That's understood (like I said, I am a non-prime R4 nationality), although I'm sure that 5 1000 baht notes stuck to my forehead would have masked any nationality issues 
And I understand all about preferences, as in Dubai's Cyclone prime targets being visiting businessmen on expense accounts or Iraq based contractors transiting Dubai, looking for some action either on the way in or on the way out (price of little concern to either).
I was just using R4 as an example of the "other end of the spectrum" where race, age, looks do seem to be a selection criteria, unlike Mango where the attention seems unbiased, or at least not as biased.
Likewise, I'm sure some individual gems can be found at R4, just as they can be at Cyclone, but I was speaking in the general.

I too found the BMango a relaxed place, frankly a nice break from the hectic gogo pace.
I did like the burger (and a good deal during happy hour) and I really like the service girls, very nice and friendly, not pushy at all.
I enjoyed watching the world walk by below.
Certainly wel derseved of the Sporadic nod of approval.

I posted recently in another catagory that the quality of this place has fallen considerably since my last visit in August 06. The burgers are always overcooked now. In addition the girls now speak very little English, you have to wave them down for a drink, evenb though they outnumber customers 5/1. trying to be nice, I buy a lady a Tequila during 25 baht happy hour and she gives me a bill for 120 baht. This place has run downhill bigtime since I last summer when I would see the owner in there every day. I think this place is a front for running money based on how they have changed since last year.

The 25 baht would be for your lady companion. She has to make some money out of that and it's considered a lady drink. Hence the high price. These low prices are for customers only. If you really want to slash out 25 baht you have to make sure beforehand that she doesn't take a lady drink but a regular drink. Some bars allow her to do that, some won't.
Most bars do not have different lady drinks prices during Happy Hour. I remember Pedros is one exception.

Oddly enough, a couple of months back, I could not notice any of what you described at Big Mango.
The burgers and tacos were quite tasty, and cooked 'just right'; most girls I spoke to were doing okay with English; 'waving them down' for a drink is immeasurably better than being assaulted for drinks in other bars, and I for one appreciate the lower pressure environment - once I had ordered my drinks, the waitresses were quite attentive to make sure they were refilled frequently (maybe it helps that they know that I tip well) ; LDs have always been the same price; seen the owner in there every time when I stopped in.

Sounds to me that you're just another guy who has an axe to grind, and does so, not very transparently.
