Sugar what? You calling him Sugar or you saying that soda has (or converts to) sugar?
If the latter, then you are wrong. Because soda (club soda or soda water or whatever else you want to call it) is just water to which carbon dioxide has been added. It has zero calories. And the only thing you could actually find in it in any significant quantity -besides the gas- would be sodium.

Ah, I see the issue - we are dealing with an issue of references and definitions, and once again those damn yanks screwed me up with their 'special' definitions for common terms.
SODA - in the US (more so the 'Coastal US) usually denotes some kind of soft-drink, usually Coca Cola. Essentially, something WITH Sugar in it.
SODA - in the rest of the world, denotes what you so clearly pointed out - water with carbonation.
In that respect, you are correct - that is a zero-calory drink; I was (incorrectly) referring to a soft-drink. In the case of a soft-drink, of course, I would be correct in my statement, but I believe you may be right in terms of what oldarmy really meant with his drink preference.

Enought to make me boycott the place!
i drink only moderately in LOS because the heat and booze are a killer for me, but I would never pay 100 bahts for some water...NO WAY.

My thoughts: A bad girl who wants to steal your money etc, would want you nice and very drunk!
I think the soda and lime is an excellent, healthy combination; no calories and the lime is strong in alkaline which will offset the acid build up from many foods we eat and from alcohol.
Funny about the weight question; once I was in Thailand and lost lots of weight but was drinking. I think it was the scuba diving that did it????

When I order water I don't mind if they charge the same price as a beer. Their in business to make money and they make it from drinks.
Last trip I'm on a water day and bar fine a girl. She's on her phone and I hear pay bar and easy baht. I laughed to myself. I made love to her till she was worn out. I know she was thinking, old man go to sleep quick. I made her work for her 500 baht.

Had a dancer from Dollhouse Pattya, my mate took one too. I paid for LT - she tried the "you shower first", then she was forever in shower herself. I was barred up all the time waiting for her because she was such a honey, so she got a shock when she tip toed out of the bathroom.
Then much boom boom for hours on & off. When I finally dosed off I caught her going through my stuff, but I always use safe, so I let her go at it for a while. When I pretended to wake up with a start, she said, "I get very sick (cough cough), I look for my money, because if I sick, you get sick, & I cannot disrespect you sir" I say "I pay for LT, you stay then I pay, or take this (loose small notes tucked into my wet pack), because I wasn't going to open the safe. She took the small money & buggered off out the door, where my mate's girl was waiting and had tried all the same tricks.
Wasn't her night - mine was ok. though!
Is this common in Pattya - never happened to me in Bkk?
