Its a gamble when all is said and done. I paid a perpetual bar fine for a BG three years ago at a cost of 7,500 baht and since that time I would have spent more than 150 nights with her - so it was worth while and saved me a lot of daily bar fines.
Before paying this I had spent some time with her and was comfortable that she would be hanging around for a while so the "investment" was likely to pay for itself - and it has many times over.
At the end of the day, it really depends on what you want and whether you want to have some "regular" fun when in town or want the freedom to "butterfly". Me I have the best of both worlds at the moment (although she does not know this).
