There are no "kindly local folks" here. However, if there were, they would tell you to get in a taxi and tell the driver "Nana Plaza" or "Soi Cowboy" or "Patpong" and the driver will get you there.
However, the cab driver will probably rip you off- charge you BT 200-300 (US$ 5 - 7.50) for the ride.
Then when you arrive in one of these places, the unfriendly girls will call you disgusting names like "HandsomeMan" or "Darling" and tell you in no uncertain terms, "Welcome". If it is Nana, you may find yourself at a place known as "Angel Witch". It is called that for good reasons. (please read all the info in this thread and others for current details)
Do not be fooled by any of this talk. What they are really trying to do is get you to go inside their bar, disco, go-go etc. and take complete advantage of you.
They will ask you if you want a drink. You may think this is an innocent question but here's the hook- they already know you want a drink and will charge you as much as BT 50 - 120!!! (One - Three US $$!!!) What a rip!!
If you are unfortunate enough to fall for this age old deception, the next tactic is even worse... they will send a very beautiful or cute or possibly sexy girl (anywhere from about 18 - 24 yrs old) to see if you want her to sit with you. Ha!! A beautiful girl sit with an older foreignor?? You can see the set up unfold, can't you?
It would be ok if that were all she wanted, however, she will also probably want to have a drink (another 3 bucks out the window) and then (heres the killer) she will get you to be interested in her by cuddling with you, holding your hand and in extreme cases, give you the fatal "sniff kiss".
I can't explain that (sniff kiss) here as the details would probably have me banned from the forum. But if this happens, you are practically dead meat!
I have heard of this happening to guys and before they can get their hands off the girls tight butt or soft bosom, they are asking the treacherous mamasan about paying for the girls barfine!!!
Please pay attention here because when this happens you will need some help in navigating safely out of the vice-like grip that they are enveloping you with. You can do one of several things:
1) you can quickly ask to pay your total drink bill which may be a high as BT 2000 (US$50) if you have been in their clutches for several hours, buying untold tequila tittie cocktails for several girls and yourself. Pay and run out into the street looking for another taxi to rip you off and take you back to Radish-on hotel.
2) You can pay the outrageous sum of BT 500 barfine (US$ 12.50) as well as your disgusting bar tab mentioned above and take the young lady to your hotel room (again in the rip off taxi) where she will:
a) shower
b) let you shower
c) ask if you have a condom
d) then proceed to screw you legless for the next few hours
3) Or the worst of all situations, you pay an additional BT 500 and take two ladies back to your hotel room and then all the things mentioned above in item 2 will be doubled except the legless part which is substituted by "screw you blind".
Ok, I realize I have been extremely blunt and in many instances crude in my descriptions of what will possibly happen, but don't say you weren't warned.
I need to add one more thing if you fall prey to item 2 or 3 mentioned above: in your legless state or in your blindness you may feel compelled to give these women additonal money dependent on their ability to render you legless or blind and the amount of time they choose to take to deliver this condition.
If they have wreaked havoc on you for only a "short time" or about one hour, you might find in your weakened condition, you will unexplainably take as much as another BT 500 to 1000 from your wallet and give them this each. If they have spent the entire night and next morning administering this torture further, I have heard of men happily doing the same mentioned earlier, but in this case giving them BT 1000- 2000 each!!!! This is generally considered the "tip". Yeah right! Like sane people would pay to become blind and legless!!
You must understand, men who give away these sums, were not wise like yourself to consult a board such as BTF. They did it without warning! You however, will not be one of them. You may still fall prey to this dangerous illusion that exists here but the difference is, you were prepared and made sure you hit the ATM upon arrival so as to not delay any of this activity and prolong the pain. This is locally referred to as detracting from the mood of the moment.
Bangkok is very dangerous city but like many other places, with a little advance warning you will navigate all these hazards, possibly even avoid them. If this happens, you will have a lovely selection of "Wat" photos to show everyone back home.
Also, be advised if this photo thing happens, you will experience extreme swelling between you legs on the flight home. This is a condition known as "blue balls". It is not fatal but many men will tell you they wish they could end their own lives when this happens.
The surest remedy in this situation is to go to the toilet on the plane (locking the door) and rapidly rub the swollen area with your hand. This will cause a whitish secretion to be emitted. In many cases, the secretion is prone to be sprayed all over the lavatory, so you may wish to take some precautions or be prepared to wipe off the walls and ceiling.
I have read in reputable publications like "Penthouse" and "Hustler" magazines, that the airline staff have actually assisted in the relief of this condition but confess, I have never found such service oriented female staff.
Fortunately this "Blue Balls" condition goes away but it is quickly followed by a psychological depression that can only be described as "What the F*** was I thinking when I didn't go for item 2 or 3 in the BTF post".
At this point, professional psychiatric counseling will be required.

Place has got too much of that red lighting, but hey if that's your thing..
Girls there have that grungy look, and most a bit on the older side too...hey if that's your kind of thing..
Didn't see any shows. (Probably was there late. Manuel and I were waylaid by eyeswideopen to go into another bar before going to AW)
Liked the black lingerie with garter belts and stockings...now if *that* is your kind of thing..
A few gems, but I think the nicest girls there were those whose photographs were on the wall (models probably)...and no, just the photos were there. The actual girls were non-existent... (edit/add) And if THAT is your kind of thing...
