Buddist Lent is next week, Mon - Wed (Jul 6-8). Does anyone know the bar/mp opening/closing status for this year? As I recall, Nana was closed for 2 nights last year, and Cowboy was closed for one night. I remember taking the MRT to Ratchadapisek and all the MPs were closed. For 3 days according to the taxi driver. Anyone have info? I need to plan my holiday.

I would def count most places out on the 7th. I have noticed that the second day some places open their doors, but not all.
I made the mistake last year arriving on the first night of the holiday and it was dead. I got sort of lucky as I had a Thai friend take me out to a Go-Go off of Suriwong Road (on a soi to the right near Patpong) that stayed open. Got to see my first full sex show there and man it was terrible. A rather old looking couple having sex to Whitney Houston's I will always love you. Cost me 700 b to get in!! After that, I remember driving around the rest of the night to no avail.
If you are still arranging your trip, why not just come on the 9th. Or if you have a late night arrival come on the 8th as you probably wouldn't have time to do anything that night anyways.

Wish I had the luxury of choosing my time Dagul, but I live and work here and these are the days I get. Just trying to make the best of them. As CC points out, good to know about these conditions when planning a vacation. I'll be arriving by bus, not crazy enough to ride my motorcycle to town (I do ride into Pattaya frequently, however).

Well, bars were open tonight. My Rainbow 1 bar fine said they're open tomorrow as well. Guess these religious holiday closings vary from year-to-year. Meanwhile, I'm going out for another bar fine. Cheers All

Well, bars are indeed closed this evening. Nana, Cowboy dark, dark. Taxi driver said Patpong, too. Not entirely sure I believe him since he wanted to take me somewhere else, but don't feel like heading over there to check it out. Guess it's Nana Car Park later for me. Bummer
