Thanks to Bangkok Eyes' December report, I made a rare foray to Patpong to check out the newest agogo bar, Glamour Girls.
The bar makes a good impression. It's across from Foodland and Electric Blue on Patpong Two, open doors, dancers visible from the footpath, pretty doorgirls waiing me in. Lots of comfy couch seating, music at reasonable volume, nice temperature, lighting not dangerous to epileptic eyeballs, a lovely waitress, and seven girls up on the U-shaped stage with ample room to dance and watch themselves in the well-placed mirrors. Some even did dance, occasionally.
Two crews of dancers, an A and a B team, 13 dancers total. Dancer #123, on the A team, is a human angel IMHO. Seeing her dancing and smiling at herself (and indirectly at us six customers on this slow Tuesday evening) while showing off her perfect little body in her tiny blue bikini.............. for a little while she transported me back in time to the early '90s, when I first came to Bangkok, and Patpong was where the beauties danced.
So, does Glamour Girls signal a Patpong Renaissance?
Doubt it. After being politely served my 120-baht Tiger beer, I was left entirely alone, despite my smiles. I ended up feeling somewhat ignored. I failed to buy a lady drink (120 Coke; 190 Tequila; 250 cocktail) because I couldn't help but notice that the two of us six customers who had bought lady drinks had to try and deal with the near-complete coverage of their companions' female flesh by protective kimonos. I don't enjoy stroking cloth instead of skin, so I passed on buying and LD.
Sadly, despite the obligatory bullshit sign on the door, smoking is allowed in Glamour Girls. Ashtrays are everywhere. Patpong bars remain in blatant defiance of the Thai no-smoking "law".
The men's room is hassle-free (no toilet attendant groping helpless customers at the urinals). All is clean and new. No towels tho; there is an old roll of toilet paper to dry your hands.
So, Glamour Girls is a welcome addition to the evolution of Patpong Two into the main agogo bar area, while Patpong One continues its decline into just another boring market.

Was in this place Saturday night and the entire experience was shit.
There were 3 indians sat on the left and a farrang on his own on the right. We were 8 guys, we ordered drinks and no exaggeration waited 15 minutes for nothing to come, I was all for leaving but one of our group liked one of the girls, some dumb ass mamasan who has conned the owner into thinking she can speak english then attempted to take our drink order again, and again, and again. We waited about 25 minutes before our first drinks arrived !
On our second round we were informed that there was no Black Label left..?!?!?!? The most popular drink is not available on a Saturday night, and we're sitting opposite Foodland supermarket FFS !?!?!
The bill was a weird number that meant I was due 40 baht change, normally i'd have left it, but as the service was absolute shit I hung around for the mamasan to bring my change, well I had to physically ask for it, she explained its only 40B why not tip, you can imagine my response.
The owner/manager has piled good money into a nice looking bar, the girls on stage are very active dancers but appear to be totally uninterested in punters and prefer seeing their image in the mirrors, the serve staff are useless and should be sacked and the mamasan should be taken out back and sodomised roughly. Seriously this bar will never make it unless drastic staff changes are made.

Passed by that bar last month. it was empty! zero customers. one girl on the stage. Didn't see any reason to go in. If you want to waste your very short stay here, you're most welcome to do so.

Socal85, you should try the place on the sky bridge over Patpong 2, forget the name. BK and I had a good time in there last month. Some very friendly girls.

Probably it is one of those bars where the girls make enought money just dancing and have therefore no incentive to go with customers.
The useless service is just a bonus.
