I've never had much fun/success with the Queen's Park Plaza bar complex, though every once in a [long] while I return to it for a change from the usual Nana/Cowboy crawl, to give it another chance...
I finally, last night, figured out the "secret" to enjoying the place: one needs to go LATE.
I showed up around 12:30 last night and one of the many nondescript bars, which was hopping and festive, caught my eye (can't remember the name)...it was an interesting crowd, Thai guys were drinking in there in addition to farang (but not in a bad way...they all seemed cool), and overall it was a fairly young crowd.
Can't remember what they told me the closing time was, but it seemed poised to go on into the wee hours. I left around 2:30 with my girl of choice; she didn't even work there, she works on soi 33 but was there visiting a friend on her night off. Had lots of fun drinking with her, the friend and a few others beforehand...the girls were all definitely a partying bunch.
Other bars in the complex were lively as well, something I'd never seen before on my previous 8-9 pm visits. Just look for a bar that's crowded and looks like people are having fun in, and you most likely can't go wrong!

BTW, I went back and checked the name on that bar, it's "Three Sisters".
