For what it's worth, I don't think it's all about (tho somewhat) what she touches or does not touch, but more about the time she spent with you.
That was time not spent with someone else who may have paid her BF. Who may have paid for LT or even ST. Who may have purchased multiple drinks.
You are not obligated. But as others have posted you'll likely be labeled a 'window shopper' by the other girls in the bar.
Which may work for you if you don't like the sales pressure as you said earlier.

Baccara and the Rainbow bars at NEP are now mainly for Japanese clientes. Five years ago most dancers at these clubs would make only 15-25k a month. A couple of years ago their take was 40-60k. Now, they look to take 2 or 3 Japanese st a night and many make 100-120K a month.
This girl obviously liked you and wanted you to take her home, but you chose not to. A few hundred baht a night is not going to make or break these girls for the amount of money the Japanese will pay. Consider yourself fortunate for your 1st visit. Likely, the next time you go in the same girl wont give you the same service and she will tell others that your a cheapcharlie.

Well, the neverending story of "time" and compensation.... I have travelled and worked in 6 different countries so far, and let me tell you this : the same problem arises over and over and over. Would you pay a lady for her "Time" ? my answer to this in NO. Not a question of being Cheap, just the way I see things.
Ever been in a Strip club in the States? ever chatted with a stripper and offered her a drink? talked to her for half an hour, have a nice and interesting conversation? a laugh? she asks you if you want to have a Dance and you tell her maybe another time? do you actually think she expects you to pay her for the half hour you spent with her? I don't think so.
Paying for time is all well with an escort for whom you pay a certain fee for a certain period of time (what you do with that time is up to you)...
I see things the same in Gogos as in Strip clubs, the goal if for you to find the lady you like and barfine her. To me, there needs to be Chemistry and I can't have that after 5 minutes of basic Chit Chat. It's up to the girl to accept the LD or not, if she does this already means you are paying for her time... it would be different if you would talk to a Girl and not buy her a drink.
Harold444, looking at your reviews (or lack thereof) I can see that you are a very reliable role model here... maybe you should think about what you post a little bit... debating on a subject (objectively of course) is one thing, name calling is another and just highlight traits of your personnality... "tell girl to get lost" you say? I have to apologise but I was not raised like that and I definitely would not expect YOU to understand this

Fair enough, no problem - but then again you also have no problem giving that same US stripper $40 or thereabouts for a lapdance, which usually last less time than the time you spent with that BG, and usually does not involve getting your nuts groped. Girls wouldn't ask for a tip, if they consistently don't get one - and more often than not, I'm sure there's plenty of folks that simply think they can get away with no tip, until the girls call them on it.
In the end, it's simply courtesy - if the girl spend time with you, and you have a moderately nice conversation with her, a 50 or 100 Baht tip when leaving is a nice touch and good way to receive good, if not above board, service when you return. Heck, I give larger tips (in the states, albeit) for just receiving a glass of ice tea, so it's really just a question of perspective -- but I can fully understand how there could be some guys who save up long time for that trip, or who simply don't earn that much, and to them, an additional $1-$3 simply isn't in their budget - my sympathies, in that case.

I see your point, but it's difficult for me to put this principle in my thick Skull... I just don't get it.
It's not about the 1, 2 or 3 Dollar issue, money was not the issue, principle was.
So what if next time I want to buy a Laptop I go to Pantip and spend 20 minutes with the salesperson only to find that the Laptop I wanted does not fit my needs... he misses the Sale.. do I tip him for the time he wasted on me instead of servicing another customer and making a commission?
Same goes for the next time I want to buy a cellphone @ emporium... or even better, when I want to move from my flat and spend 4 hours with an agency representative visiting, and in the end I don't take the appartments she showed me.. do I send her a Check of THB 100 for wasting 4 hours of her time?
My point is, every Salesperson/Client relationship cannot be successful, sometimes the buyer is interested by the product and inquires about it... but in the end decides this product is not for him.
Same in Gogo bars, if I like the girl, I will invite her for a drink and listen to her Sales Speach, if I'm not convinced I won't buy.
I don't always go to bars to f***... or see BG's as a piece of meat with a pricetag. I am sure some of them appreciate a good conversation and to be treated as human beings. (even though they are all in it for the money)
