Everybody keeps telling me that Singha is of better quality and contains less unwanted substances than Chang - but I have to confess that Chang just tastes much better to me... So I have to live with being looked upon as a cheep beer charly and a man of questionable taste, but so far, I can live with it. Alcoholwise, both beers are just OK, not too strong and not too weak IMHO. Cheers, Fritz Budweiser is like sex on the beach - f_cking close to water!

I prefer Singha and like the taste. ÝFritz I'm the opposite of you, I just don't like the taste of Chang. ÝIf there is no Singha then I'll drink Chang. Ý

My preference is Chang - If none I will drink singha or Hieniken. Chang is 6.4% so not that much stronger. VERY few beers are as low as 2.5%. Most bottled beers (bud inc) in Eurpoe are 4.3 % (but vary from 3.5-5%). With alcohol content less than 3% you get yeast forming in the pipes and beer spoils quickly (remember tennents LA? it was 1.75% - I was working in a pub in Chelsea in '90 and we had to clean the pipes every second day - as opposed to once a week for most - and it was a real pain). So when you guys talk of beers that are 2.5% unless they are light I think you might want to check your facts. Or maybe I need to reaquint myself with mine....

I concur, the average mass produced beer in the US is 3.8%, no beer is 2.5%, and if there is I want to know the name of it. The microbreweries rarely go lower than 5%, and some like stone and brooklyn go as high as 12% (really strong beers). BB

There are some great Micro breweries in Dublin now, they are relatively new (last 7 years) and produce some of the best beers you can get - My fave is Behans No 1, strong in alcohol and very full flavoured, lots of hops and malt taste -mmmmm any micros in LOS?
