I would say - totally untrue. First of all I have stayed their for ages. Know the manager and the staff well. Have had some AC problem at times and gone up to adjust it myself. No sign of cams! I have also been backstage in the office and for sure there is noone there sitting watching raunchy customer videos.
I always have the Jr suite and enjoy it a lot. Even if I would like a stall shower more than the tub and shower. Details. It is located in the midst of it all, wellmanaged by a very able young lady from europe. Breakfast fine, pools are several and I must say I feel "home" there! I never bring ladies in since already have regular subscription - but of course the place is totally Gf.

Why would some owners require that their room be monitored?
Better yet, why would the hotel allow an outside company to monitor rooms on behalf of the owners?
This is a tough one to believe.

A few questions, Blonk:
1. You say :- "I asked the manager why there were cameras in the room and his response was that some rooms need to be monitored at the owners request... "
Now I am assuming that by "owners" you/he meant the hotel guest. Since the hotel monitored YOUR room, it then follows that you yourself asked for it to be monitored. If that was not so, did you not ask the hotel manager why your room was monitored when you hadn't asked ? That, I suppose, is what anyone in your position at that moment would have wanted to know. Instead you seemed to have accepted his response.
2. You say:- "I was gaurenteed the new room (the Indian Room for reference) had no cameras installed."
and again:-
"When we went to the reception the manager (who is an excellent guy) asked the receptionist to check and see if the Indian Room (tower 1) was monitored.. She replied it wasnt.."
Accepting the hotel's argument that monitoring was done at owner's (sic) request, why would the manager need to ask the receptionist whether a vacant room had any camera installed ? The manager has just said that "some rooms need to be monitored at the owners request." Which means, vacant rooms have no camera installed. Or, is your story telling us that all rooms have cameras installed which are then activated at owner's (sic) request?
3. I am not dismissing your story. Just wondering how -- unless the hotel advertised this facility of monitoring private rooms at guest's request -- are interested guests to know that they can ask the hotel to monitor their rooms ? Since you say the gentleman who carries out this monitoring also stays in the hotel, it appears to be a big enough activity to justify all the expense of having a resident camera operator. It ought to have been well known rather than be breaking news as it is now....

This hotel chain is like my second home in BKK even I prefer Royal President and President solitair. I have more than 100 stayes at their hotels.
I have been sending them the information you have told here and surely they will take give me and respond. I will be chocked if they confirm your story. It wasnt even any apologies, just -this is the way we do it attitude-.
If it was my hotel I realy would take it more serious.
