Can anyone recommend some decent but not expensive, maybe ~2000-3000 baht price range hotels with private outdoor balconies (and preferably decent views). And in the lower Suk area only.

I've stayed at a number of places, haven't found a decent private balcony yet but I am far from an expert. So to save me some time (and money) perhaps someone here can give me a few recommendations to try out?

BTW just heard Dynasty Grande has, can anyone confirm? Still looking forward to any and all recommendations.

Thanks!

555! I hear the BKK flying club has some new openings!

Seriously though...My apartments in BKK in the past have had some nice balconies for a smoke or two, or more fun out overlooking the city. But I have yet to find a decent hotel with the same.

Little bit of searching on agoda is inconclusive so far, but no direct contacts yet.

Nice one though, I had not considered the thai style implications! 555

Stable Lodge on Soi 8 has balconies. Rates are around 1500 BT, I think.

Agree, Stable Lodge has balconies but only the front rooms have anything that could be called a view - the place is low-rise - 4 stories? - so that view is of the hotel pool area and garden - nice enough mongers hotel but I got the feeling you were talking more of the "sweeping vista of Bangkok" type view from the balcony.

Enjoy.

... urban hotels are not generally programmed to include useable balconies, unless they are more of an urban resort hotel, a relatively new hospitality segment... and then in BKK, only maybe... the Sukhothai, a very nice urban resort hotel, might be a possibility, but not at your price point.

... beyond that, Thais do not favor sitting out in the heat, so a Thai designed or programmed property (hotel, apartment or condo) will rarely have anything more than a notional balcony, just big enough to hide an A/C unit, or a clothes-drying rack, and it will likely have a handrail that allows no view through it... all generally understandable with this heat and humidity.

... let us know what you find.

I find balconies a waste of time myself. Too hot to do anything useful there. If view is important, I prefer a room in a tall hotel with large windows.

Agree with Magnum, hotels in the city generally do not have a separate balcony, instead they merge the balcony into the room. If the main utility you look for in a balcony is a smoke and a view of the city, most high-rise hotel rooms have large wall-to-wall windows which would serve your twin purpose.

I do recall once staying at the Nana Hotel in one of its higher floor rooms (9th?) which had a narrow balcony. But the wall was so damn high I had to literally hang by my chin on it to see the skytrains passing by.

Pepperdog,

Centre Point Suk soi 10 got balcony with decent view. Promotional rate of this 3.5* service apartment hotel is within your budget range, you may even get a 1-bedroom suite. Totally guest friendly -- no ID card request. Furniture is older style, but everything including breakfast is fine overall. For smokers, make sure to request a smoking room though. Smoking in the balcony of non-smoking room may be an issue and got fined.

I stayed in Stable Lodge at soi 8 with balcony once 10 years ago, but hotel was 2.5* then.
