I'm thinking of staying in the Nana Hotel. What is the quality of the rooms and facilities? Thanks.

Check the threads (can search for "Nana Hotel" ) and you should find a wealth of info. In a nutshell, the deal is: located right across from Nana Entertainment Plaza, rooms about 1000 Baht/night, accomodations a bit shabby but clean (usually), a mix of friendly and rude people at the front desk, a great buffet breakfast (included with the room), extremely girl friendly, pretty good security, a new pool under construction, an unending supply of free-lancers in the lobby day and night. All in all, a real institution. The last time we stayed there, my TGF screwed her face up into an amusing pout, as we opened the door to our room, and said, "Nana alway smell bad." There you have it! It's my hotel of choice for all of the above reasons.

I prefer the Nana for a number of reasons. The price is very reasonable. I 've stayed in the standard, but prefer the superior or deluxe, if available. The security and desk staff are pleasant enough if not a little bored with the whole thing. I bring them a tin of cookies from foodland to show my appreciation for the endless comings and goings for the safe, etc. The hotel has reliable cable, which is nice, though last but not least is location. The disco is a straight shot from the room, and like the fabled Raumchitt to the Thermae, marathon girl getting is simplified when the hotel room is the in the same building as the club. The Nana Plaza is across the street, no need for drunken crawls at the end of the night, and the skyway, and moto taxis 1/2 block to Sukhumvit. Walking distance to Grace, Thermae, Clinton, make the Nana the sex maniacs choice!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The credit card fraud problem also occurs at hotels and shops all over Thailand and in areas far from any nightlife, so, it's hardly the fault of the Nana Hotel. The obvious lesson is: pay cash always and forget about even bringing a CC to Thailand.
Anyway I have a longstanding sentimental attachment to the Nana Hotel, and I much prefer it to the Ambassador (for example). The price hasn't changed in 15 years (maybe longer) although it has certainly changed in real terms (from $40 US to $22 US) over the same period. The breakfast buffet is indeed good, the lobby and coffee shop are indeed full of biddable girls (and ladyboys) although I think they ask for too much money for being across the street from the NEP. I am not a disco daddy so have never bothered with the delights of the Nana Disco...all in all it's not a 'business class' venue or a place to bring the wife and kids...but for a fellow flying solo and on the prowl, you can pay more and do worse.
Assuming you don't object to a bit of sleaze.

An interesting hotel indeed. One thing I would like to add which does not apply to all.
If you come to Thailand for business and during one of your meetings a customer or business partner ask where do you stay? OOPS.
Again don't take this one too serious but if you want to avoid this, look for a more "neutral" place.

As Majestic Suites was fully booked when I got there, I am now staying at the Nana Hotel. The location is good just opposite NEP, walking distance to Bamboo Bar and Grace Coffee Shop.
The suite that I am having is ok value, but the hotel has seen its best days. The staff at the reception is somehow unfriendly, especially when they are handing out the safety deposit. The security control is strict and the TGs need to leave their ID at the desk opposite the elevators. And... yes as said there are plenty of freelancers around in the hotel or outside at the parking lot.
