I stayed at the Honey Hotel, because I wanted somewhere closer to Soi Cowboy than NEP. I managed to get an internet rate of 800 baht per night for a room with one double bed, without a fridge in the room. This was direct with them. I did not find many booking agencies that covered the Honey Hotel, and none had a better rate. I booked via email, the reply was always the same day, unless I pushed them too hard on the rate, when the responses stopped!

It is located on Soi 19, so depending on the crowds, 10-20 minutes from NEP, and 5-10 mins from Soi Cowboy by walking..

Some massage parlors are close by on Soi 19 that judging from the signs outside, catered for Japanese clients.

When I checked in, they had allocated me a room with 2 single beds, which is not so helpful. They changed it to a room with a fridge, but wanted an extra 50 baht, so 850 baht per night. I was not going to argue the toss over a difference of 50 baht per night. They did not tell me, but the fridge also included 2 bottles of water each day.

Previous visits to BKK I had stayed at the Majestic Suites, so this is my only comparison. The room was bigger than the Majestic, probably I had a couple of meters space around all sides of the bed. The room was clean, but could do with decorating. There was a TV showing several channels in English, including HBO, ESPN and BBC World. Picture quality was variable. There was no safety deposit box in my room, there was one available at reception, but I kept my valuables locked in my suitcase and did not have any problems.

There was A/C that was running when I wanted, and it worked very well.

Bathroom was clean, the toilet and the sink were new, but the bath was not. And for the 3 days I stayed there, I never mastered the shower heat settings. The hot tap seemed to have three settings, off, hot and f-ing hot, and even with the cold full on, I never got it just right. The Majestic has better bathrooms.

My room was at the front of the hotel, overlooking the small pool, and it was noisy with the road traffic, so it would pay to request a room at the back. I also had a room close to the stairway, and there was a small reception point at the top of each of the 3 floors which was manned during the day. Because I was close, when the phone rang, I could hear it, so it would also make sense to request a room away from the stairs.
There is no lift/elevator.

The rate included breakfast for one, which consisted of a voucher for their coffee shop. The sight on the door said the coffee shop closes at 1am, I am not sure what time it opened. The voucher gave. 3 choices or set breakfasts.
1) Eggs and bacon or sausage with toast,
2) Porridge or pancakes or cereal,
3) Thai style.

All 3 options were with the Thai ‘day-glo’ colored orange juice and tea or coffee. There was also a menu, but I never looked at it to know what was available. The coffee shop is very popular with locals for lunch, so it is a lottery for getting a table between 12 and 1pm. Breakfast at the Honey is better than Majestic.

The place is totally girl friendly, and I took my TGF back 2 nights, and there was no checking of ID, which can be good or bad.

I had a late check out for 9pm, and they wanted to change me a full day. I managed to get them to agree to change me a half day. I paid using Visa. They did not except American Express.

The Machine
I stayed there for the first time a couple of weeks back.
The best thing I can say about that hotel is that the breakfast went til 2pm.
It was a little too rundown for my tastes.
It is guest friendly and close to SC but there are much better options in the Suk area.

same ownership as the federal on soi 12, Honey is a leftover from US Army R+R days, yes, a bit tired now, but you can actually get a better rate by walking in - the small rooms out the back are only 650bt - but agreed, in the under 1000bt range, probably better options around- e.g Promenade down soi 8.

I stayed here in February 2004. I paid 800 per night, one large bed, no fridge, and two bottles of water everyday. I asked about those rooms for 650 at the back, but they didn't know what I was talking about. I had a room on a high floor facing the back and it was generally quiet. The rooms are showing some age. Had no problem with the shower and it was guest friendly. They serve breakfast until around 2 pm. I didn't stay near the stairs, so maybe thats why I didn't hear the phone ringing outside. The airconditioners are small, so you have to give it a little time to cool the room. Its very close to Leader Price, a supermarket, on the opposite side of Sukhumvit, going towards Nana Plaza, which is open till 11:00 pm. Front desk was friendly and when I checked in, they carried my suitcase up the stairs. Very close to Soi Cowboy and Thermae. I also stayed at Manhattan Hotel on Soi 15 which is nicer and includes a buffet breakfast. It cost 980 per night, but there is construction going on both sides right now. There might be better places nearby, but I haven't stayed at them. Overall, I liked Honey Hotel and its good for the price.

There was no safety deposit box in my room, there was one available at reception, but I kept my valuables locked in my suitcase and did not have any problems.
-------------------------------------------------------

Just a note of caution to those that keep their valuables in their room. I stayed at the Pattaya Centre last year and moved from one room to another directly across the hall for the better view. My key worked in both rooms! I don't think some hotels keep good track of keys for their rooms and it could be easy for thiefs to have them. Maybe 9 times out of 10 you will have no problem, then during the 10 stay you lose your suitcase and all valuables. Better to be safe than sorry, and ruin a nice vacation. Peace

anyone that had experience parking a vehicle at Honey Hotel ??

thinking of kickin' it there next week, but don't want to have to park on Soi 7 and take the BTS to Honey.

i'm concerned about parking in the area mainly because i've had so many problems getting parked at Nana Hotel before.

I think..

umm, I don't live in BKK, but am also not a tourist...

I normally don't stay in hotels because I can get back to home from BKK in 2 hours...

I guess I'll do a zoom of the area this Fri. while I'm in Bangers, on the way to Kanchanaburi.

they'll move my car if it gets in the way..??
to where, the local impound ??

i thought that's what you meant, not my preferred parking style, but may be the only option in Asoke/Nana area.

i'd rather be in an actual parking space where I can avoid getting bounced around between other cars, and pull the brake...

I stayed there in May for 3 nights.

Its a good little Hotel for 900 a night, yes its a little tired but clean as can be (at least my room was). Staff very helpful, very guest friendly. Breakfast till 2pm instead of the usual 10am is a bonus. I actually got to eat it twice.

A big plus for me was that you dont need your room key to operate the air con so you can leave it on when you go out and return to a nice cool room........bliss....

Had no problem with the shower as one poster had, powerful enough and warm/cool enough.

Maids had no problem giving me exta towels everyday once I'd slipped them a little bhat.

Had a inside room on the 3rd floor so the view was sh_t but who cares for that price for a central hotel.

Also a very good coffee shop up the road towards suk and near my favorate bar.

Just about to book for my next trip in October.

I did a run-by of Honey Hotel, Woraburi Inn, & Majestic
Suites last Friday here goes :

Pulled the Vulva (volvo) down from the expressway onto Suk. Rd. Up Soi5, down Soi7 and into the parking across from Beer Garden, ah sweet, and after just two hours of driving...

Woraburi was a damn long walk from Suk. Rd. and the parking was minimal, we're talking about enough room to park over 10 cars, but at 9:30am the parking alongside the building was already jammed full.

They mentioned in an eMail to me that they had parking "in side". Since it was two words, I guessed right, at the side, and that was ALL.

Back to Suk. Rd. by motorbike taxi and drop in the Majestic Suites. On the way I notice some more babes walking out of Nana from having been LTd last night. Hmm, not a bad place to sit and have noodles and do the "Where you go, Seksey Gurl ?" routine...

I might also mention that at this time Nana parking lot was half empty. Hmm, and there was still parking available underground as well.

Majestic Suites informed me that they DO NOT have parking. OK, next !!

Honey Hotel seemed nice. Parking was minimal but indoors. I looked around the streets nearby and think that I could swing a street parking spot in a pinch.
Reception started to take my reservation. When asked how many people I said 3, 1 room, 1 night, big bed.
She gave a strange look as if "Three people, cum on now chubby, who you kidding ?"

Nearly done with the form now and then she repeats 3 nights, one adult. No, no, 3 adults, one night.
Then she starts to argue with me about what I'd just said. Ok, not cool.
She starts to explain that I'll need their most expensive room and then I'll be charged a joiner fee for each adult. I think total joiner for two additional adults was 800b.
They also tell me that check-out is noon sharp, no late check-outs. Well, outta here. G'Bye and back to Nana Hotel

Nana's lot still half empty, and you guys who winje about the 500b cuties in PTTY being a fright, you should have seen the stuff hanging round the front of NEP this time of morning, made some of the ugly PTTY babes look like Miss Universe.

Nana Hotel is not bothered if I wanna shag all of NEP in my room, but they suggest that I get a room with the double bed and an extra single so that no one has to sleep on the wet spot. Ah, agreed, takes my info and then I ask how the hell to get down Nana South if I cum from the expressway. Ah, easy peazy, just left turn up soi 3/1, two more lefts and there you are cumming down Nana again. Ok lovely miss, thanks and I'll see you next Friday.
Almost forgot to mention that they also allow a 2pm check-out. Goodie...

Sitting and having a cool-off beer at the end of the parking lot, then a resident of Banchang walks out of the hotel to go South. Fancy meeting you here, WTF. Oh got too drunk last night and slept in Nana, ALONE !

Tried chatting up the Big titted BG who served me. She was nice and brazen and jaded, so f-all on that.

I figured to have the beers as I'd already overstayed my original hour in parking, and had 40 minutes left before the next hour started. Back to the car, paid the 20 Baht, had hell making a right back onto Suk. but then it was a nice slip back onto the expressway.

Herein the day ensued into my :
