Doesn't matter if he's booked for two persons or not, unless that second person is checking in with him upon arrival. A joiner is a joiner. It's not the same thing. They're cracking down or (as Dr Love probably more rightly suggests) capitalising financially on their proximity to Hookerville.

Anyway my friend had no problems with joiner fees at the Novotel Lotus. Had two LT's without having to pay any joiner fees over the 4th of July weekend.

I had stayed in Novotel Lotus for nearly 5 times. Last time of stay was in July 2004, never had any problem with TG/BG. I think if you book a double room no joiner fees. May be this policy is new

What the duty manager told me is that they only charge the joiner fee to "internet customers" (I pre-paid through thailand-hotel.net). She said they don't hassle their "normal cuatomers". When I asked her how security knows the difference, she said "they have a list." This happened in April and the fee was 1000 baht. I decided to check out and it took two months to get my unused night refunded. I won't stay there again, at any rate. Much preferred the rooms I moved to at the Solitaire and Rembrandt apartments.
