Hi old Swede,
as usual I recommend the Tawana Ramada in BGK
as it fullfills everything one can think of going to Bangkok as we do.
And still I do not get any provision for my recommendations ...

hi Peter and Swede,
the Tawana Ramada is a great hotel. it provides great sevice, friendly and is located in a "pleasant' location (5 minutes to Patpong). not to mention that they have a very popular coffee house that serve delicious food as well.
however, having been staying at this residence for my past 9 years' visits to BKK. i fing that the night life and locationa bit stale at times, or should i say limited!
for a change during my last visit, i decide to stay at the Grand President hotel in Sukhumvit Soi 11 ( after much homework done and ahering to the advise of the members of this site). i found that this district is more accessible and "friendly', in terms of day or night time activities, this area is much much better and alive. in fact by 1pm onwards, u can find pool bars, beer gardens in Soi 7, massage (Darlings, Annies), CLUB Eden all easily accessable within the area. by night, theres Nana, Thermea, Clinton Plaza, Sukhumvit Square, Soi Cowboy, Ministry of Sound, Q-bar etc all within walking distance. and believe me, all these places are less commercialise than Patpong! even the girls are friendlier!
well, all of the above are of my personal point of view, but i've discovered that this district is much much more alive, compared to Patpong, be it night , day or dawn.

Im sure everyone has there own opinion on this matter but I rather enjoyed my stay at Regency Park Hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 22 . It was by accident that I wound up at this hotel but I was very pleased with all services . The rooms were extremely clean and spacious . The front desk staff was excellent . In the lobby there are two small bars with pool tables , food , internet access , and friendly girls . They are very used to guests and were completely guest friendly with me . I have moved to the Chid Lom area now but still go several times a week to see the girls I met in the hotels bar upon my arrival in BKK . We all get different experiences out of the same situation but to me it was a great place to stay . Theres a small beergarden 100 meters down the Soi . Its only about 300 meters off of Sukhumvit with small bars along the way and a short trip in a taxi or by skytrain to all the other exciting spots in the area . I walked in and booked my room and it was 2500 baht but you can book online for half that price . Its just a suggestion but a highly recommended suggestion ........
