Just because they're booked when you buy a package doesn't mean you have to stay there, does it?
Can you buy the package deal, then book a hotel of your choice on line and still save money?

I stayed in the Landmark in November and staying there again in Feb, first time had a double deluxe, expensive at about £65 night no breakfast. This time stying in superior double, which is a smaller room (deluxe had a 2 setees and desk which I never used and is on a lower floor, which means a bit more noise because of the mega location its on a busy road.
Another reason for the superior is its about £48 per night but if you book through First asia hotels (speak to Rob UK 0207 871 0525 or 66 75 637 514) if you stay 4 nights only pay for three, but still no breakfast, (breakfast 680bht but best I had in bkk

I thought about that. I don't think it's going to be THAT cheap. Still, I guess it depends on the deals I get.

best second choice to grottino would be town lodge on soi 18. I like to think of it as grotinno on a shoestring! looks like same management and has the same styling and niceties as the SG, but the location is not as convenient as SG and no hotel restaurant. Still not a problem as there is a hotel tuk tuk to the bts or robinsons, many available taxis, 7-11s and restaurants down the soi.no problem with guests, in house club and overall great atmosphere. at 1200bht its great value.
i would definitely stay away from asia hotel. old and too full of rude and greedy shopping tourists.
if you dont mind older but clean and still acceptable accomodation you maight check if the Silom Regent Service Apartments are on your travel agent's hotel list. the standard is going for 1000 bht with breakfast, is disreet, situated at the Saladaeng BTS station right opposite Silom complex. Is very guest friendly, great staff and has a great location. Patpong nearby and many restauranst and other distractions. Just a suggestion. Definitely better than Asia hotel! :)

Silom Regent sounds interesting. Town Lodge was interesting but I read a report about how the taxis were having a hard time with getting there. Will Check these out!

stayed at Asia heaps of times, I like it, rooms are nice great breakfast, only once was I ever questioned about bring a bird back, was a matter of tipping the night manager and it was all sweet.
