I was talking about the front desk management staff, not the maids and service staff.
I always tip the maid well to get good service, extra towels, etc. A couple of maids, there, and in other hotels, have left flowers in the room. As it was always roses I'm sure they were flowers some punter bought his girl the night before and which the girl just casually tossed in the wastepaper basket, but it is the thought that counts.

Will be staying at the President Solitaire during my next stay - later this week, until next week. A quick jaunt to LOS and back over Labor Day.
Been wanting to stay at President Solitaire for a long time, and a good opportunity came my way, as the Centre Point was renovating the pool - so, I figured for what turns out to be $30 more per day at the PS, I get a pool with underwater music.
What was odd, is that the same room I was looking for (Solitaire Suite) was billed on AtSiam.com at 5,300 Baht, while directly through the PS website, you get it for 2,900 Baht. I booked their 3 day/2 night package in combo with 4 extra nights - yields about the same price than 6 nights (200 Baht cheaper), but includes the complementary airport pickup and drop-off, as well as daily breakfast.
Look forward to it, and will recount my impressions and experience.

Daffy, I have stayed at Royal and had the suite with spa etc,, I think called the Platinum suite 80m2,,, with spa, 42" plasma etc,, was really nice but was at the time a bargain at around 3,200 BHT but got a lot more expensive last few years.
I see the solitaire suite 50m2 at 3,799 BHT daily or 7,700 BHt for 3 day TWO NIGHT package,,,,,,,,, not 2,900 BHT per night ??? Please explain
Don't get me wrong, it is a lovely place but has priced itself out of contention in my opinion.

Checked the President Solitaire's web site the other night was STUNNED to see the prices have been REDUCED!
Apparently there had been a change of ownership.

Solitaire has also excellent rates for long term stay. Comes down to some 1750 B./night for a 30 days stay. b/f not included though.
Great service here and no probs with GF. They take ID but are ready to leave that if u show up with the same girl (s) repeatedly, as I do. Now that is craftsmanship, isn't it?

I am not sure that the prices have come down. I was there last week and paid 3,800 all up for the Premier suitie which is the same I paid in April. Agree long term rates are good - paid same for month in June as I paid for 2 weeks in April, and that included b/f.
Wish they did a loyalty scheme and mention it each vist (10 so far) on the comments form - can but try. May try LE Fenix next time though as it looks quite funky.

Fenix IS funky and so is the new but much smaller Citichic (go google) in the same area. You might also consider the brandnew funky S15.
The Solitaire has a slightly outdated "Admirals" Chique... Nevertheless I enjoy my LT stay...

I have been ripped off only once - over many years - and called in the Tourist Police. They were good. It cost me more in value of my time lost than in my recovery but it was worthwhile as a matter of principle.
