Angelus,

I think the President Solitaire is a good choice. In your price range I'd also consider a 1BR at either the Jasmine Suites or Rembrandt Towers, as the services and amenities are far better than the Omni or the Town Lodge. Unless the Omni has been renovated in the last five years, I'd give it a miss. TL is cool, but it's just not in the same league (no restaurant, for example). I haven't stayed at the President Park because I feel the location is out of the way and a traffic hassle.

If you want to check out the Jasmine Suites or the Rembrandt Towers, they both have websites. As for booking, I'd suggest negotiating a weekly rate by email to the manager. It might help to say you're a 'Nanapong' member. They don't know what the f*** it means, but it might get you a corporate rate and they won't check your ID on check-in because there is none.

Good luck.

Would strongly avoid The Jasmine Suites, 1000 Baht/night/guest have been recently introduced. What a damn shame. Used to be a popular place, its killed it.

Rembrandt Towers is a great place. Totally massive 1 bedroom (100SQM) apartment for a little over 3300 Baht/night room only. Guest friendly at the moment.

Whoa...how quickly things can change! Thanks for posting that update! It's very unusual to hear of a serviced apartment charging joiner fees.

The Rembrandt Towers is usually my first choice anyway, but last summer they booted me after a few nights because I had no reservations and they were really overbooked. So I walked myself and my carry-on bag down to the TL. After a few nights there, I moved to the Jasmine (I'd stayed there many times previously), and that's why I felt qualified to comment...LOL.

usvirgin,

No worries. Rembrandt is getting popular as the room is huge compared other place in this price range.

Jasmine used to be the next stop. Many like you used to stay there if The Rembrandt was full.

Couldn't believe it myself. Another board member told me and after checking found it to be true. Pretty crazy as its a serviced apartment. Hope others dont follow suit.

Hi Tim,

I didn't notice your url when I posted earlier, so I didn't know who I was posting to. Now that I do, I can say that your hotel posts are always honest and a great service to boardmembers.

Can you please start downplaying the Rembrandt though? Hard to get a nice room there nowadays and the manager is absolutely making a killing the South Asian and Middle East markets to more than my liking.

5555.

You are right though. It was one of Bangkok's best kept secrets. I tell it how it is.

Cheers

I did some checking up on Rembrandt Towers but it seems the main website was down or inaccessible. I had to go through asiarooms and agoda to get some views, and both say they only offer 1 bedroom apartments that are 70sqm rather than the 100sqm you mentioned. They also state it's located next to the rembrandt hotel. I'll assume this is correct and both sites quote a rate of $91 a night. It looks like an interesting place, and I'll consider it in place of Omni Towers which you guys feel need renovations. I'll try e-mailing them once I can access their main website.

As a point of interest however, I was hoping to get additional information on the actual rooms at Town Lodge and President park, the suites I mean. I'm not to picky about whether they have a restaraunt although I do like the idea of a gym, but I was just wondering are they nice? Pictures of both are a little limited and I was hoping someone could give some description on the rooms/atmosphere of either places.

Once again, thanks for all the input so far and I hope it continues.

-A

My bad.

The 1 bedroom apartments are 70 sqm. The 2 bedrooms are 100 sqm.

Hi Guys,
when in search of an hotel in Bangkok well located with free internet, it comes to: Centre point, Swiss grottino and Town lodge. the first one is rather expensive compare to the last 2, but the last 2 have louzy breakfast. I am quite a fan of large brunch buffet.

Would you have any suggestion for a place with nice room + internet + breakfast for reasonable amount (I mean below JWM or landmark rates...)
thanks

We want the world and we want it NOW! LOL

Seriously, I've yet to find the ideal combination of the three. Combinations of any two, sure, they're a dime a dozen but wrangling all three is scarcely possible.
