kenneth, thanks for sharing your experiences in the use of the accor discount card. It would seem accor has fixed the problems that you pointed out.
You do agree the 50% dining ( alone) discount is excellent.
You say that prices compared to discount reservations where comaprable,, this is no longer true, lets have a look the differences in price.
1) Grand Sukumvit by Sofitel, Precision 3962 BHT, discount card 2380+BHT
2) Sofitel Asoke residence, Precision 3578 BHT, discount card 2635+BHT.
3) Sofitel Silom, Precision 4524, discount card USD 89+.
4) Chateau de Bangkok, Precision 3,045 BHT, discount card 2545 BHT +.
5) Grand Mercure park avenue,, Precision 1902 BHT, discount card 1538 BHT+
6) Novotel bangkok Siam square,, Precision 3804 BHT, discount card 2601 BHT +.
6) Novotel Suvarnabhumi Precision 4997 discount card.
3400+
As you can see prices are certainly NOT comparable.
I have checked availability of the above hotels and they ARE available for said prices at between a 1 and 3 week forward booking.
Also the 1 night FREE stay I believe no longer must be taken with a second paying night.
An added bonus NOT stated here is you can issue 3 "member for a day " certificates,, that means 3 discounted nights for friends and the 50% discount on dining for a day.
Lets say you and 3 mates decide to have a holiday in BKK, you book in for your free night ( saving a Precision cost of 3962 BHT ) your mates are members for a day, each saving about 2,500 BHT for the night plus their 50% discount on buffeee ( assume 1,000 BHT so save 500).
On day one you are ahead 3962+500 = 4462 BHT
Each mate ahead 1500 on hotel discount plus 500 food.... 2000BHT for each of 3 mates = 6,000 BHT.
First day savings are 10,000 BHT, CARD cost is AUD 200 = approx.5,400 BHT. But lets face it it is YOUR costs that count, the mates discounts are just a gift.
So after day 1 you are 4462 ahead of Precision,, decide to stay another 4 days ( enjoying) and each day you save around 1,500 BHT, save 10,462 BAHT even though you decided to eat at the corner soi Kwai Thiaw rather than the Buffet'.
Card cost approx + 5,400 BHT ( so 6,400 BHT in front with 11 months 25 days to go on the discount).
Decide now to down-grade a little on accomodation to leave more for spending at Cowboy or,,,,
Ok book 5 nights at Grande Mecure Park Avenue,, saving against Precision are 350BHT per night, so without the generous food discount we just saved another 1,750 BHT.
Now need a break from BKK, decide on 5 days at the beach in Pattaya,, try the 4 star Garden cliff resort ( Precision 2,720, card 2159 ) save 5 X 500 =2,500 BHT.
Sad news, we now need to head home and back to work.
Summary 15 nights and saved 14,712 Baht,, and save 3 mates 2000 BHT = 6k.
COST approx 5,400BHT.
Not mentioned here is VERY often in low season there is a FREE upgrade on your room.

Others, I have no problem with healthy skeptisism, something that seems to good to be true normally is.
Just ask any reasonable question and I'll answer as best I can, if I didn't think this was an excellent deal to help BKTF brothers I would have just kept my mouth shut ( or in this case key-board quiet).

Thanks Mel again. This is very detailed info. Do not be so suprized guys to find such discounts, as this is done by other hotel chains. Accor simply needs to match the competition, hence provides similar benefits. Intercontinental, Hyatt, Marriott, all have local such cards with various comparable discounts. As far as I know, the 50% discount on food is only when 2 dine at the same table. If more than 2 dine (such as 3 or 4) you do not get 50% off the final bill. It comes to one eats free and others pay full price, where others can be from 1 to whatever more. For 2 people dining this is an excelent deal. Wonder if the Four Seasons offers such for their Sunday's buffett.. that would be awsome.
I also checked Mel's numbers with Asiarooms. Don't know if Precision's numbers incl. tax and service, but compraing Accor's prices (which are before tax and service hence need to add 17.7%) the card's prices are indeed cheaper (about 20% or so) vs. Asiarooms.

apollo, I confirm the dining discount,, it is 50% if you dine alone, 25% if you dine with that lovely lady from CowboY, eDEN OR ??? etc etc. ( same as you 50% and her full price)
Basically the card is for the MEMBER too benefit.

That is actually better than other places. With other cards you get 50% only if 2 dine together. If you dine alone, you don't get the discount. But if most of the times you and lady dine, its better to have the 50% off (i.e. one full meal is free). So it depends on your style. Get your loved one with you (i.e. wifey) or dine alone and save.. 
I cannot make a general comparision here between this card and others offered within Thailand (some chains wont allow you to buy their cards outside of Thailand and some limit their sells to Thai residents only - so you need to have a local address to buy their card). Many such cards are marketed for the local Thai market, and although they cost 5K Bhat and up, they come with a lot of perks, incl. vouchers for free nights, or buy one night get one free, etc. All in all, these are good deals if you can get such a card for your favorite hotel and are enough times around Thailand to enjoy the benefits.

I just did Google to find this one, so please do not give a hard time to Mel, he KNOWS what he is talking about.... such cards do offer benefits if you can get and use them in Thailand or the area.

Tim from http://www.thaihoteldiscounts.com (who has a thread on another forum) replied to me that the Sofitel Asoke Residence is guest friendly. Would seem to be an excellent bargain at this price.
I am consdering the Asoke for my next trip later this summer.

Yes Mel, I used it everywhere for food, paricularly at the beach resorts where they have the seafood buffet. I reckon we had thoousands of baht worth of rock lobster (yabbie), crab and prawn for a total of about 1,200 baht for 2.
