dongjuan, heard anything about the hilton in the siam sqaure area?, this will be my first visit to bangkok and usually try to stay at a hilton chain since i'm one of there honors members, you know if its near the go go bars and that eden club?
Quote: from DongJuan on 11:53 am on Aug. 14, 2002 If you're on an expense account or have the dough, the below were guest friendly high end hotels (as of August 2002). Note that I am only listing those hotels I've actually used or know from friends and contacts as having certain guest policies. Hope the below helps. - JW Marriott (on Sukhumvit NOT Marriott Riverside which is not guest friendly) - Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit - Banyan Tree (Formerly the Westin) - Pan Pacific - Le Meridian President Not so friendly high end guest policies (some are erratic in terms when they let in guests and when not): - Regent (for 200plus bucks a nite, you would think that the guest was "King"....) - Dusit Thani (starting to crack down as of April 02) - Sukothoi - The Oriental (a DEFINITE NO as this prissy hotel thinks it's on a level of it's own - NOT!) - Shangri-La Riverside - The Penninsula - The Intercontinental Siam Square (inconsistent but a lot of cute Asian airline stewardesses stay here...) - Grande Hyatt Erawan (this one is a big "depends" as I've had negative experiences there (twice), but friends say otherwise). - Plaza Athene (have heard that this one has an inconsistent guest policy as well) Guest Friendly Mid-Range: - Landmark - Novotel - Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza - Amari Watergate - Westin Grande Sukhumvit - Evergreen Laurel

The Hilton is on Wireless Road (Thanon Witthayu) not far from Petchburi Rd. Between Ploenchit and Petchburi. This is not, in my view, the Siam Square area. It is the British Embassy area and a hell of a walk to Siam Square, not to mention on the other side of Ploenchit. And if there's more than one Hulton in town it's news to me...

As far as proximity to go go bars, it's fairly close to Nana (by taxi - a bit far to walk I should think.), and a bit farther (in another direction) to Patpong.

As a HH member, I've got good news for you. The Conrad Bangkok is to open before end 2002 on Wireless Road (All Seasons Plaza), less than 10 min walk from Ploenchit station, should be the newest best 5* in BKK.

Ok, I have made a reservation for the Swiss Park for late June. I have booked for a double, which was the same price for a single. Number 1 question is it guest friendly. Seems to have a good locale and affordable. I could go to the Regency park as I have frequented Pickles Bar, but would like to see new stuff. Anybody know? Thanks
