True, but at least you can see where some of the money is - the huge water feature fountain at the front, a half-decent breakfast buffet, coffee shop in the foyer and a general make over including many of the rooms.
Get a taxi to the airport - don't take the mini bus - taxi is cheaper if there are two of you (and under 300 baht anyway).
Food at 13 Coins is excellent and good value - hotel rooms there are...ummm 6 or 700 baht and about 2 star. Okay for 1 night in transit. Enjoy.
