@Jolly, Aspen Suites are a bit so so... nice modern touch but no couch or anything, just a kitchen table and chairs, room layout is spaceous but kind of strange, some poor installations in the bathroom, location deep in soi (2) is dead with no motocy Soi taxies... Didn't really like it and moved to Citadine Soi 8, rooms much smaller but smart featured... Will book at Citadine Soi 11 for this week... Location hard to beat here Legacy looks nice though...

Thanks Mick, Maybe Aspen is not up to the standards of Adelphi or Legacy. Stayed at Majestic Grande a couple of times about 2 years ago, this was about as deep into the soi as I would want to stay. Aspen looks a fair bit further down Soi 2 from Majestic Grande, didn’t really like the walk to the nearest BTS station at Phloen Chit. Jolly Roger

Jolly Roger. Aspen is lower than Adelphi and Legacy, the price says it all. Its deeper in Soi 2 than The Majestic Grande. They do have a tuk tuk service the to the main road. Tim

I'm staying here right now for the 1400 baht/night rate. The room is nothing special, pictures make it look nicer than it is. There are 2 sections of this hotel, section 1 and 2. I'm in the newer section but the building honestly seems a bit old when you are in the hallways. The rooms are a bit more modern, still nothing special. Strange bathroom design as it does not have a door. There is a large glass door that separates the sink from the toilet and shower. The toilet gets a bit wet from the shower, there is nowhere in the shower to put your soap or shampoo except a little window sill which is not designed for that purpose. The shower head a rainfall type head but the supply pipe is small so the rain trickles in comparison to the head over at Frasier Suites. The bed is quite nice, soft and comfy with nice pillows. The room uses the keycard that powers the AC. Fear not, the other outlets do not power off when you remove this keycard as I like to leave my laptop running and things charging while I'm away and it works perfectly. All in all, it's not bad for the price. The real saving grace is this low rate and the location to the BTS and MRT. It's a short 3-5 minute walk. 7-11 right across the street. Also, the free wifi isn't so slow either. The 1400 baht introductory rate does not include breakfast. I did try the ABF there and though the selection is small it was OK, quality was decent. The good news is that after new years, the rates don't go up too much according to Agoda. The free upgrade from standard room is 1595 baht and the deluxe room is 1768 baht. It is guest friendly but I saw the front desk take a young lady's ID.

I've got a different take on this place. Stayed there for four night (from 13/Dec<>17/Dec) in room # 245 (4th floor) in building where the coffee shop is. It was a corner room which was nice but that is where the good ends. Other then the mattress which was great. Hated the bathroom, poor lighting, not enough space for things (as you mentioned). Pillows where like rocks and no others available. Went to Big C and bought a 79 bt pillow which was loads better then the hotels. Wifi, least for room 245 one had to sit in the desk chair just inside the door, with laptop pointed to the router down the hall and to the right in any hopes of a signal. I know this is BKK but work still calls. Will not be back!

I'm in 265 on the top floor, also a corner room that faces Soi 19 and I can see the building 1 next door. There's actually a wireless gateway right down the hallway with two antennas so the signal I get is 3/5 bars and the wireless manager says it's good quality. I downloaded a torrent today at about 300 kb/sec at some points. It was strange, I actually hacked into the router. Couldn't find anything to mess with in the settings. My pillows are definitely big and fluffy so they must have changed that. A couple things that are bugging me now is the inconsistent water heating for the shower. It fluctuates and I can see the tankless unit behind one of the panels in the bathroom. There is no hairdryer. When I asked about it, the guy at the desk said there is one available, meaning you have to return it when you are done. No thanks. This is definitely a hit and miss hotel. Still love the location as it allows for ways to beat the traffic at the Asoke intersection. But some very basic things like not having a bathroom door and a hair dryer are getting to me. I brought a gal in last night and they didn't take her ID. But she was quite spooked by the bathroom concept. Might give Darjeeling a try next...

Staying here now. May 14, 2009. Got a pretty good rate through Agoda, 1470 baht and an upgrade to a superior room for multi night stay. Pros • Awesome bed • Extra pillows • Free wifi • Great location (right by Asok station, and across from a Family mart) • No night security in building 2 • Contemporary Decor Cons • Wi fi performance is inconsistent - sometimes it blazes, sometimes it is unusable • If you're over 6'3, watch your head getting into the elevator • No pool Overall I like the place. Will probably be back, though the wifi just about had me screaming a few times. Seems to work a lot better in the lobby than my room (243).
