City Lodge Soi 9, managed by Amari, is offering a 999 baht walk-in rate, but walk-in only. I booked online for 1850 and they wouldn't credit the difference, of course. Clerk said they were full, so not sure what the chances are unless you can get there early (not a large hotel, about 60 rooms I think), but 999 is a pretty good rate for the location.

Excellent. I recall staying at the Ibis Hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark. Very comfortable, and a great value. I'll have to check this new one out.

I have been staying at the Sofitel Silom a couple of times for short stays of 1-3 nights and IMO the Accor Group is persuing a policy of joiner fees.
I always booked a double and when I was asked the name of the 2nd party, I always told them that my GF/fiancee would arrive later.
The girl I took with me for 2 consecutive nights what decently dressed and I also hab briefed her that she should just join as my GF.
Still they tried to take a joiner fee, as I speak Thai I gave the clerks some pressure and they dropped their plan.

So... by "not guest friendly" does that mean they won't even let a girl in to give you a massage? or does it just apply to overnight guests?
The 700 baht rate at the Suk 4 Ibis on the sale mentioned here looks great. I'm thinking of booking it, but I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks.
