Need help with recommendation. Will be visiting BKK for business & pleasure in May for about 9 days. Main things i'm looking for is :
1. Location Sukhumvit area (preferably nearer Soi Cowboy) but as long as walking distance is ok.
2. Room must have private balcony
4. Spacious rooms with safe box
3. Free (included in room rate) in-room broadband internet access
4. Girl friendly
5. Price range from Bht 2,000 to 3,500 per night
6. Pay by cash upon check-in (no credit card)
Any recommendation will be appreciated.

Most of the 4-4.5 star places around Sukhumvit should do you a room that's within your price range, though you will most likely be paying rack rate, as I doubt many will accept a booking without some sort of prepayment or guarantee.
Also, you may have some trouble with the larger chains who may insist upon a credit card imprint as security, when you check in.
As for being GF, I suggest you scan a few websites e.g. expedia to get some names, then cross reference with this thread to establish relative friendliness. You should have a list of hotels at the end of it you can work with upon your arrival.

I did use agoda, asiarooms and others and ended using HRS. Besides the guaranteed bookings, most accurate hotel information and professional service - e.g. you can change your bookings online and it allows you to book hotels within 24 hours (I had one case where I made my booking at the airport right in the arrival hall - thus within 2 hours of arriving at the hotel....) it covers almost any country and currency with decent (if not the best) rates.

6 years passing by Bangkok with often late minute booking... I ended up asking each time to Tim from http://www.thaihoteldiscounts.com
why?
- incredible fast response (once the man even called me at the hotel from the hospital to confirm an extend stay...)
- always happy to help or advice
- excellent rate, I don't even bother anymore to spend time browsing for hours..I check one or twice and then come back to thaihoteldiscounts

A significant disadvantage with r24 is that they offer a very unfavourable exchange rate for baht into other currencies compared to either Tim`s service,or Asia Rooms.
R24 then retains the exchange rate difference as an additional but undisclosed commission.
