Like to give a heads up that Royal Parkview is no longer guest friendly, wish I'd known. Arrived last night just before midnight, rushed to check-in and get to Soi Cowboy before 1 AM. Returning with one of my favorite Long Gun girls, security person informed me there would be an 800 THB joiner fee. I protested, mentioning I had booked for two people (at a slightly higher rate), but to no avail. Worst of it is I paid in advance when I booked, thinking it was GF.
Otherwise, rooms are large but hotel has seen better days. Breakfast buffet and pool are OK for a hotel in this price range. Also, decent exercise room.
If not for the joiner fee, I'd be satisfied with this hotel. However, extra 800/day makes it a poor value.

Yikes this post I started is a blast from the past. I decided to stay at the royal parkview in the end (May, 2003) and I loved the place. Id be very surprised if it wasnt girl friendly as the place oozed girl friendly when I stayed there. They even offered in-room massage with all the extras and positively encouraged me to try it out. Royal Parkview is similar in standard to the manhattan but with a nicer bathroom and not as shabby looking.
As with some reports on other similar standard of hotels, I think sometimes the doormen/receptionists are on the take and not always complying with the managements policies. When I stayed there I gave the doorman 300Baht and he never blinked an eye whenever I took a girl to my room (including the receptionist).

I would suggest you consider the Woraburi Hotel, half a mile down Soi 4 (NEP street).
It is cheaper than Majestic Suites (1100 Bt for a bigger room than 1300 Bt at MS), and has a swimming pool.
True, it is not as close to NEP, but it is worth it (it is nice to relax by the pool on the roof).
Girl friendly too.

The guy who stopped me was not the doorman, but a security person. It was just after 2 AM. I know the 800 THB I paid didn't go into his pocket because I insisted on paying it with a credit card. These joiner policies don't seem to be uniformly enforced at all places. I recall at Tawana Ramada I was only stopped once, which happened to be a Saturday night. Again, I protested that I had booked for two people, and they let me register the girl I was with on the spot. I still brought other girls in on other nights.
Since I paid in advance, I'm stuck here for a few more days, but I certainly won't book this hotel again. If I have to pay an additional 800, I prefer to stay in a better hotel that doesn't try to pull this sh_t. I tried getting Majestic Suites but they were fully booked for these dates.

surprised to hear, as one of my freinds is staying in the royal parkview at the moment. one of those guys who is known for not sleeping with only one girl a night. I know he has a blast every night in there and never pays any joiner fee.
are you really sure that the 'so called' joiner fee didn't went into other pockets?

I paid with a credit card. There was another monger there at the same time who paid cash. Last night however, I brought in a girl and wasn't stopped. It was earlier in the evening, not 2:30 AM like before. Perhaps this security guy doesn't come on duty until around bar time. I've been going to sleep earlier for the past couple of nights because my body is still adjusting to the time difference.

Brought another girl in last night, about 1 AM, without incident. If you suspect something isn't kosher, perhaps I should speak with the hotel manager before I check out tomorrow just to make sure this security guy isn't trying to rip people off.

If the guy is on the take he would probably deny it but an enquiry to the manager about the hotels guest policy on your departure would help clarify things for you and many people on this board.
Always appreciate a heads up on guest friendly policies.

Sorry to let you down today, but after the experience I had last night I was very hesitant to bring up the issue of a joiner fee with the front desk when I checked out.
Here's what happened:
Bar Fined a girl from Soi Cowboy GoGo, we stopped at Country Road to listen to the band. Turns out my girl was very good friends with the mamasan there, who kept bringing us shots of tequila, on the house, to drink with her. I didn't really want any, but didn't wish to offend her by refusing her generous hospitality. By the time we left, my girl was so stewed she could hardly walk. I got her some food outside, but it didn't help enough.
We got to the hotel at 1AM, and three large busloads of Chinese tourists had just been dropped off. I had to carry my girl through the lobby, which was filled with hundreds of tourists waiting to check in. This was by far the most embarrassing moment I've ever had in LOS.
In the morning, I didn't wish to say anything, fearful of any complaints that may have been logged. But, the bottom line was I stayed there for 5 nights, and was only charged only once.

I am coming next week and I checked the website. This hotel looks cool. Thanks! The 1100 bht room you mentioned. Is it a Junior Suite? I saw quite a number of different types of room from the website but none of them is priced at 1100bht. I do prefer a bigger room.
I tried to booked Majestic but was told they are fully booked on the date I arrived. Is business that good?
The last time I stayed in Ambassdor and beside cute housekeeping maids, there is nothing good to say about the hotel and I will never go back there again.
