iualum, can u recommend something for the same price and similar location that's noticably better. I'm looking for alternatives. Only the one room suites do it for me at GP and Im not even there most of the time. So its a bit of a waste. Thanks

Stayed at the GP twice in building 3. Its an ok hotel, rooms in buiding 3 a bit worn and i found that i never used the VCR, CD Player, microwave or other Kitchen equipment. (always ate out or used room service). The hotel receptionists were rude and not very helpfull.
The only good thing about tower 3 is the location, no reception but just a security guard (so no walk of shame if u care) who would get you whatever you wanted for a small tip.
I'm also looking for an alternative and may try Majestics on my next visit.

Well, you may want to check out the Bright City Towers a few buildings up Soi 11 from the GP. I wanted to check them out, but they were full.
I checked back into the GP yesterday, and was "upgraded" to a Jade room. Same as I had last time, apparently. Still doesn't look like it's been remodeled in 10 years. One chair has a broken side support, tub doesn't drain well.
There was a welcome plate of fresh fruit, which was nice.
Checking in was a hassle, as they were trying to give me a 10% discount, instead of our prearranged rate. I had to pull my email out about going to Pattaya and then returning.

I'm to the point that I would probably not recommend GP to a friend. I had a problem with a couple of girls last night, and the hotel was very unhelpful. I had asked for a security guard, and they said they'd send one.
This is the first time I've had problems with any girls in Thailand (that's what I get for taking 2, I guess).
And don't let them "upgrade" you to a corner or Jade room. Not remodeled recently. My room has a broken chair, the tub barely drains, and the carpet in the hall is coming up in places.
The cleaners are marvelous and very nice, but with the problems of checking in, it's not as pleasant as say, Majestic Suites.

if your after moderate priced accomodations with some ammenities try Anbassador Royal Suites 8200 baht a week with big 1 bedroom apts with no hassle and good ammenities and security to help you getrid of bad BG's shakin ya down or comin by without notice. GP is good and so is Bright City but Center Pointe on Suk Soi 10 is the best bet so far. Heck just walk around and stop in for a look.

I stayed at GP two weeks ago. I was pleased with the topaz suites. Paid in the 1450 range + 10%. Last day I got a late (10pm) checkout for HALF PRICE, which I thought was very cool of them.
Bed comfortable, mirrors on both sides, good TV, in-room safe and Girl friendly with a guard who kept their ID's and never hassled you, even when you take four girls a day. 
Hotel is convenient (less than 5 minutes walk) to BTS, Thermae, eden club, GT, and old Clinton Plaza area. Short cuts to Soi 7 (5 min) help for the Beer Garden runs. NEP is a 10 minute walk, max. Soi Cowboy is a 10-15 minute walk.

You are mentionning Anbassador Royal Suites. Do you refer to Ambassador hotel? Any recommandedonline reservation website?
I recommend Manhattan hotel as well.

I agree with you about security and reception: I had a problem with a girl and they were useless. In fact I had the feeling they were more on the side of the girl, than on the side of the customer.
In building 3, Security keeps ID cards but gives them back to girl without calling you to check if everything is OK. I realised last time that a girl can kill you in your room, take back her id and just walk away........
