A lot of people who used to stay at the Nana or Die-nasty, like the Majestic Suites, just around the corner on Sukhumvit, as well as the Parkway Inn next door...pretty much the same class, with the Majestic in nicer shape, but with smallish rooms.

Unless you are a fat bastard, and can't stand the walk, there are MUCH better choices a bit further East...

If you are NOT a fat bastard, but merely lazy, you're missing a lot of good stuff tying yourself to the Nana bars...don't be afraid to walk around a bit.

Book early to avoid the rush...

BigDUSA,

It's been a year, but I still like the Grand President, mainly because of location.  The rate has increased, though, and I always rent monthly, so your mileage may vary.  I paid about 27,000/month, for one of the upper floor, corner rooms, with a view toward Sukhumvit (Tower III).  The key to the GP is to politely, but firmly ask for what you want.  If your room is run-down, ask for a newly refurbished one.  If there are fumes from current refurbishing work, ask to be moved.  This has resulted in upgrades for me EACH time I stayed there.  It also helps to introduce yourself to the Resident Manager, and schmooze him a bit.  The guy I know was transferred, so I can't even PM you a name, but I'm sure you will do the right thing.

The Manhattan is also very nice, and pretty reasonable.  Good location, too, but not as good as Soi 11, IMO.

For a tighter budget, the Honey on Soi 19 is pretty nice, and close to Cowboy.  Figure 800-900/night.  Very close to the BTS, too, and a LOT of freelance action in front of Robinson's late at night...

Another, older, but OK option on Soi 11 is the Federal.  Pretty old, and worn, but absolutely guest-friendly, and a better breakfast than the GP, for less.  About 900 baht.

If you want to spend a bit more, there are PLENTY of other options...

It all depends on your tastes:  I like to be AWAY from all the Nana action, fall into my routine, and live it, rather than it living me.  I get up, walk the shortcut to Foodland and Took lae Dee for breakfast, go to school, come back for a swim, catch up on some reading, go out for a cruise on the Skytrain, come back for a nap, go out for the evening, and repeat as necessary.

hope this helps,

haam sup,

The regular majestic room is the same price as the best room at Honey. What do you recommend?
Thanks
