I sent a mail to the hotel directly and they answered that they are fully booked for the precision reservations room quota at interesting rate, that's why prec. res. could not give me the confirmation. I think they should have sent that info to me, anyway I sent them a new mail to cancel my request for that reason (to be sure).
Now I try my chance to an another hotel with res24, hope it will be better

Has anyone used this agent before? They want funds wired to their bank account or "in cash" when I arrive. Is this normal procedure for paying thailand based travel agents?
Other than that, they have pretty good prices on hotels. They quoted me $92USD for the Landmark (for 2005).

No, the rule is before arrival (like theirs) :
'Confirmed bookings require a non-refundable deposit of US$ 50.- per person. Final payment is required fourteen (14) days prior to arrival in Thailand. If booking occurs within 20 days prior to arrival in Thailand, full payment is due at the time of the booking. '

Has anyone heard anything good or bad about http://wired-destinations.com/index.html ?
I tried using several on-line services to find a room in Pattaya during the week of New Years Eve and had no luck. These guys got me a room at Sunshine Hotel, which is great, but several other on-line booking places told me it was full.
As a test I requested a room at Nana on the 31st, they said I had a reservation. Go on-line and prepay for the room. Now i'm sceptical.
I'm gonna search for the phone number to Sunshine and call to see if they can confirm.
The old saying, if it's to good to be true it probably is'nt, will be test here. I'll be prepared to spend the night at the Alamo Bar down the street.

There's a hotel a couple of doors down from the Alamo Bar going toward 2nd Road. They may have rooms. Tell Gary I said hello.
Check http://www.skytoppattaya.com good hotel, cheap with AC, TV and fridge. Good location, guest friendly. Tell Pete I said hello.

For info, Planetholiday.com and precisionreservations.com are the same site (same company let's say).
I have used http://www.asia-travel.com for years and never had any issue. It is also very easy to reach them on phone. One good thing is that you don't always have to use pre-payment. You can just book and pay directly the hotel at the end of your stay. There is only the no-show charge of 1 night if you don't come.
I'm checking the http://www.res24.com site. Seems ok but not very well organized. And it would be great to have the rates shown in other currency than USD, which doesn't mean anything to me. We are not all from US.
In res24.com, the Manhattan otel is at 1300 and at precisionreservation at 862 (both double rooms).

never used them but propose only prepaid rates. I have been always concerned about paying in advance. If you know already the hotel you are planning to stay, this is fine, else it's a bit a hassle to get refund, sometimes impossible, so impossible that you have to stick to your place.
