If you see it as a JWM you know you are going to get a good hotel
The JWM on Ploenchit is certainly a good hotel. However, I found the JWM Phuket (regularly billed as the best on the island) very disappointing. In fact, if I'd been a Marriott inspector, I'd have advised the immediate replacement of the GM, the F&B director, or both. Classic case of a property resting on its laurels.

In my books the best hotel in phuket is the Banyan tree. I only stayed there 3 nights but this is awesome !
In Bkk, ex YMCA Metropolitan is very very nice indeed.

Banyan Tree nice, but Amanpuri beats it all!!!

You must have very deep pocket. Amanpuri is out of range to me. My APAC Boss use to stay there for a week but he must be earning in the 100k us a Month.
I now understand how Qbar has become a booze convenience store to you

Just wanted to let y'all know that decided to book two night thru priceline- 65 usd a night for Sheraton Grande Suk. I have also booked 5 nights at the President Solitaire platinum suite. I will let you all know my impressions when I am there. I am really looking foward to the PS especially the plasma TV's and the Jacuzzi!

Yeah, I booked direct. 3,400 baht a night for the platinum suite. That's the one with a "Jacuzzi."

I seem to remember someone previously posting that serviced apartments are not subject to the same taxes as hotels and hence the price quoted is the price paid.
