Soi 11 is - for me - the best possible location in Bangkok (but I'm biased because I live there).
You're halfway between Nana and Cowboy. You're a 40-50 taxi ride (and the soi is a through road so there are dozens of taxis passing by) from the beer bars on soi 22 and the higher end bars on soi 33. You're a short stroll from soi 13, and that hotel is a stone's throw, over the bridge, to Lolita's if that's your thing.
You can even skip through the Park Hotel carpark for a short-cut to BeerGarden.
For restaurants on soi 11, you have a great Chinese in Joke Club, Lemoncello for quality pizzas and Sababieng (spelling) for high quality thai food with nice outdoor or indoor dining. There's even a half decent Indian, just past Cheap Charlie's bar. And, of course, you have Bed Supperclub for real high end (and high cost) food.
Bars? Plenty of options. Genesis, Corner Bar, CHeap Charlies, an English Pub who's name I can't remember, QBar and a couple of bars with cute girls sitting outside.
And all that is without leaving the soi. Add the streetmarkets on Suk Road (DVDs 100-120 baht), Foodland round the corner and you have all you need.
Soi 11? Paradise on earth mate. Paradise on bloody earth.

Hi Guys,
Is this hotel GF friendly? I usually book a double room at Imperial Queens Park, and Jade Pavillion in Soi22 and have had no trouble, but this sounds like good value and a change of scene.

I was staying at the Swiss Park at the end of the year and walked past this place a few times. It did look good from the road, so I'm obliged for info on it. As Scobie says, it is a very convenient location. I may well consider staying there next time around in June

it looks like the best price for what im willing to pay but not sure if I want to trek for 5 minutes just to get to sukhumvit

It's literally on the corner of sukhumvit & soi 11. There is no walk up soi 11 involved whatsoever. Soi 11 is it's own little community somewhat like the soi 4 area. There are numerous restaurants up soi 11. Internet shops behind the hotel near it's sister hotel business inn with many travel agencies. Bank directly across the street making exchanges easy. Girl friendly. They are about to increase they're prices... Currently they are still sitting on they're promotionaly price of 1200 baht/night but will increase that to 1500 baht/night at the end of March.
