Hey Plod, I have had the pleasure of staying at many hotels without showing my PP, both in Chiang Mai, Bangkok and Pattaya.
Further for your ignorant education, they were not fleabags, nor were they 5 star hotels.
I have stayed in 4 star hotels and not provided my PP. So you ignorant fool, go forth and copulate with your LB friends and keep trying to raise the gene pool a tad !!!
Just to keep you out of suspense for tooooo long, I did say without your PASSPORT, I have supplied other ID such as a home town drivers licence and been booked and processed without a problem.

FWIW I've checked in at the Queen Vic in PTTY without a passport. Used my driver's license.
Can't say much about the gene pool after copulating with LBs and TGs, but there were noticeable pools of sweat in various spots around the room after wild sessions.

Cut the crap hambag: NOT MANY meaning NOT A CONSIDERABLE NUMBER of the thousands hotels in TH will check in foreigners without them producing their international passport with a valid entry visa in it! Thailand does have laws on the legally valid ID documents i.e. national ID card for Thai int'l passports for all others and also on hotel guest registration using exclusively those. TH did not follow the traditional Anglo-Saxon legal concept on the matter, rather the Euro-Continental one. Of course that is beyond the grasp of a foul mouthed boy with a "home town driver's license".
BTW pillock and fraud hambag according the Tourism Authority Thailand there are NO, ZERO, SQUAD, NULL certified 4-star hotels in Pattaya
