I have stayed many times and for long periods at Solitaire and thought it was good. But they - as many others - push prices up whilst the service is starting to decline a bit. Still I like the place but had a sad experience this last visit. GF whom I have been with for several years and of course lives with me has been treated well by the staff and I consider that normal. They know her just as well as me and one would think they are also respectful to a fellow citizen. I was to be proven wrong.....
I left earlier this time and she spent some days by her own in the suite. Should make no difference at all - or?! Well unfortunately it did. She called me and said attitude towards her shifted from the minute I walked out the front door. No polite "hellos" or smiles any more. She had to remind staff to get room cleaned etc. Plus the general attitude which was a bit of a surprise to me - even after all the years in the country. She asked me that we change hotel for my next trip in 2 months. And that we will certainly do!
So now just the boring job of finding some place that is good, fairly large and with a decent price.... considering Adelphi suites on soi 8 but nothing decided yet.

I stayed at the Solitaire for a month 2 years ago, but the noise from next door suites made me look elsewhere. The squeaking bed didn't help either.
I stayed this past year at Sofitel Asoke Residence on Suk Soi 19 for a month. Very satisfied with it. 1 Bedroom suite is good sized, and includes it own laundry room with washer - useful for extended stays. Best of all, I don't think I ever heard a sound from the neighboring suites. Staff was always courteous to the GF.

Their shoddy treatment of their own women pisses me off - enough to have hauled a couple of managers onto the carpet in the past. I would let management know in no uncertain terms exactly why I, and my money, wouldn't be returning, and would hope that we can take a moment do so also.
I have never experienced such treatment anywhere else in the world.

Adventure guy - yep, I have sent a mail to the management describing the s...t attitude they gave my GF when I was no longer by her side all the time. I have still after almost 2 weeks not received a reply!
I have paid them 100īs of 1000īs baht over the years and I was very clear on telling them that a good explanation to this behaviour is expected - or I am out the door for ever. And no reply yet - which of course is a clear signal to stay away from the place.
But it is a bore to find a new "steady place" - since I practically live half year in BKK and nead a place that is comfy and well serviced. I was rather ok with this place even though I have noticed a dip in details. For example the pool is not maintained as it should and is often not very clean.
Hotel prices in general in BKK are starting to be ridiculous. For example I used to stay at Westin for a couple of years. I think just about 3 years ago you could get a room at around the 120 USD level. Now it is well beyond the 220 USD mark when I checked!
Or maybe I will just start looking for a serviced apartment to rent.......

Guys you're really funny... Try to find another place in the world where this "coming home" part of mongering is as easy as it is in most places/hotels in BK... In fact the majority of *very* GF hotels is what makes BK the perfect mongering place... Ever been in HCMC for example, or Bejing, or London, or NYC... you name it?
Coming back to the hotel with a whore is a desaster in most places but not in LOS, so stop whining and don't expect hi class hotels (in local terms) to treat hookers like they're not hookers... and every TG staying with a farang guest is a hooker in their eyes because they have no chance to tell the 1% which are not from the 99% who are...
It's not only the girls and places like Nana which make LOS the land of milk and honey, it's also the (mostly) hassel free environment...

This depends on the corporate culture of the hotel. I know the Marriott's treat every girl like a customer with or without a farang present. Most of the bad treatment is borne by Thai managed hotels who have yet the value of goodwill and good customer service.
