I'm still a newbie and can't start a new topic so I'll post it here since it relates to JW Marriott.
I'm also a long time JW Marriott fan, although agree that prices have gotten too high.
A JW staff recently told me that the new Marriott Courtyard will be opening soon (mid-August) with special promotion rates. This new hotel is located on Rajadamri behind the 4 seasons (formerly the Regent). I was told that the promotion price will be about 1000 baht !!!
This hotel is already on the Marriott website with a rate at 4200.

If indeed the special rate will be 1000B that is a super deal. Will move from the Lendmark to this hotel. New, close to the BTS, and quiet away from the street noise but walking distance to the center of the center (4 Seasons breaky should be nice even if expensive, also you have the Grand Hyatt there etc.). Wont pay 4200B though...

I'm at JW now. Man everytime I stay here there are more and more Arabs. God bless them I have nothing against Arabs but they take all the suites and good rooms and it's become harder than hell to get a room upgrade even for platinum member. Last five stays no upgrades available.

I picked up a fine cigar in the JWM cigar store on Sunday and smoked it in the lounge. When I first sat down the lounge was empty, but soon I was surrounded by Arabs. As long as they don't mind my smoke, I don't mind them.
