Ahh, those 3rd floor rooms. I've had one on the Suk side and another on the interior with a view of the light shaft. Some long term guests stay on this floor. And last year's suicide supposedly occurred on this floor.

I'm due in 5 days.

Due in 5 days?!?!?! Umm boy or girl do you know yet (sorry couldn't resist).

Thanks Jaiguru for the direct email address you book with. I seem to remember you saying once that you got NO discount this way though and there were cheaper ways to book the Nana. Maybe even that those who booked another way got some extra perks, is that right?

Obvious question is, what's the "other way (s) ". I don't want to pay by credit card so can you suggest anything other than just showing up there? I'm arriving at midnight unfortunately (27th April). If I can reserve a non-smoking room there it would be great, F.

Felix888, you could always try the Dynasty across the Soi, down a bit, same side as the Nana P. 1090 bht.

I admit it. I'm perplexed.

If we assume that most single male visitors to Bkk are from either the US, UK, Europe or Australia / NZ, then we must assumed that they spend around US$500-1000 for the pleasure of being here, right?

So what is it that makes those same guys want to stay at a dump like Nana, particularly if we accept most guys will be spending a lot of time in their hotel room?

Why spend all that money to save US$10-20 a night on a hotel, when for slightly more you can stay in a much nicer place. I've only seen pics of the rooms (urrrggg!), but I've been in the lobby and the trip to the gents was so horrible that I was scared to take little scobie out of his pants.

Is it just the 'Nana legend'? If so, why stay there days on end?

I know a good place on soi 18. 550 night. near a driving range. PM me for details. I promise I have no business interest in the place

Good question. I cannot speak for anyone else but I'll explain my thinking. If I'm mistaken, by all means clarify things for me (Canadian/Aussie dollars used here).

I'm going to LOS for the first time for 12 days. At first I was going to go for 6 days, and figured $1,000 would cover it as I'm in Japan and flights are only 39,000 yen return so that leaves about $600 for accomodation and fun ($100/day). THIS TOTAL is cheaper than travelling somewhere locally for THREE days so very easy to justify. However holidays are fairly fixed here and Golden Week is one of them (end of April) so they more than double the airfares! Suddenly the airfare ALONE is $1,000 : (

To make it worthwhile I decided to stay 12 days then 1,000 b per sleep is 12,000 b or about $400. If I double the (original) budget to $2,000 then I still have the $600 play money left and it's just for food and fun (over twice as many nights). However if I stretch to the SG at 1,700 per sleep it's nearly $300 extra - which is half of the budget for living those days.

I have to admit that the hotel on Soi 18 for 550 b/night is looking tempting at this point because I could have a LOT more to spend on ummmm, well you know what. For me anything over 1,000 b per night times 12 is just too much and as Nana is right where the action is and within that price range I'll probably go with that suggestion. Once again I'm the newbie so hit me with your criticisms, just be polite, ok? Thanks, F.

Since this is your first trip and your budget max is 1000B for hotel, Nana Hotel is a good choice. You are right smack dab in the middle of the action. Don't miss the scene in the parking lot at 1am when all the bars close and the girls are looking for a man/place to sleep and score some Baht.
The Soi 18 hotel would be right across the street from Soi Cowboy, but a long long walk or a BTS stop from Nana... not recommended on 1st trip altho it is a viable option if you want to focus on Cowboy. The extra 500B per day may be worth it.
Patpong is a BTS ride away from either spot and you should see that scene too. Rough place but part of the whole scene to be seen.
Enjoy and try not to fall in love.

You can book through NanaTours (I think their email address is on the Nana Hotel Web page) but you may have to pay daily, and breakfast is sometimes not included.

There are also room consolodators, but you'll have to pay in advance with a CC.

My advice is to book through Jaruwan, and build up a little relationship with her. You'll be glad you did.

I admit it. I'm perplexed.

I've stayed at better hotels around the world than the Nana, and I've stayed at worse. I'm not going to be impressed with a room's decoration or humping my ass or taking taxis back and forth to the Nana Triangle so something on Soi 18 is right out. What does impress me is the non-stop fun at the Nana Hotel.

The Nana Hotel is a legend. It's a place of non-stop action, 24 hours a day. At any time of the day or night you should be able to find action in the lobby, massage parlor, coffee shop, beer bar, disco, lobby bar, parking lot, or even the elevator lobby. After escorting one fine lady from my room to the front door of the hotel, I was even able to score another on the elevator ride back to my room.

On top of all that, the Nana Hotel is immediately across the street from Nana Entertainment Plaza. It just don't get better than that. There's only one hotel located where the Nana Hotel is, and that would be the Nana Hotel.

Perhaps no other subject about Thailand (except how much to pay the girls) can cause a heated discussion to flare up like where is the best place to stay. There are nicer hotels in the area, and there are hotels that are much worse. There are more expensive hotels in the area, and there are hotels that are less expensive. But we're not looking for the hotel with the finest furnishings or the fluffiest pillows; there is time for that when you become an 'old hand.' We're looking to jump into the middle of things and have some fun!

Pieman, a poster on the Pattaya Pages forum, once said, "The whole jamboree (at the Nana Hotel) could provide a massive eye-opener for a newbie to LOS and, very possibly, blow his mind. That is indisputable."

Now, *that's* what I'm talking about.

If you're a newbie, Say at the Nana Hotel.

If you're not a newbie and have never stayed at the Nana Hotel, stay at the Nana Hotel! Everyone should stay at the Nana Hotel at least once.

I'm not so sure you will; you'll be spending more on taxis, and/or you'll waste a lot of time walking. And if your tilac is wearing high-heels, I shouldn't think she'll appreciate the walk from the Nana Triangle to Soi 18 at all.

Good riposte, Jaiguru. I agree one hundred percent with you. To me it is almost blasphemous to say anything against the Nana Hotel. The non-stop action, I have found, spills out into the convenience stores and massage parlors and beer bars on the Nana Soi. On my last trip I ended up flirting with a cute young family-type lady at the Family Mart at 12 midnite just after I had checked in str8 from the airport. Whew ! it must be the air of Nana blowing everyone some good all the way down the Soi.

Soi 4 is my Penny Lane. It has its fair share of famous barber shops. Some of my best memories of LOS are on Soi 4 and inside the Nana Hotel. Unlike most other hotels the Nana does not have a "back side" that you must avoid ( assuming you are at least 5 floors above sea level). The so-called back side is as good with a great view of the towers and the Soi4 running into the distance as far as the eye can see. At 3 in the morning when you return to your room you can stand at your window, look down the Soi at the shimmering lights and it evokes memories of all the naughtiness of the day. And then you go down to the parking lot and... who the hell comes to sleep here?
