I just had a four night stay at the GM and noticed the same inconsistencies. Minor as they are but for a hotel like this a bit odd. Shower Gel 1st day but never replenished for the rest of the stay. Did not bother me for I use soap that I get at Foodland.
The guard at the barrier on Asoke is a nice chap. Every night, as I went out, I'd get the salute, clicking of heels and 'Soi Cowboy?'. He never saw the take ins for I would come in on the Soi 23 side; past all those bloody massage places that yell out at you for business.
One of those take ins had her 'men...' which was not announced until we where in bed. She must of flushed her 'pad' for every time the toilet was flushed there was a gosh awful LOUD, room shaking noise from the pipes as the water tried to refill the toilet. And this is no exaggeration. Thank Heavens this was on my last night there.

Maybe I am old fashioned, but I wouldn't really like any staff of a top end hotel saying Soi Cowboy to me whenver I left. They can think what they want but a salute is enough for me. That certainly has never happened to me at any hotel in BK ever before. Even when I have been at my worst, or best (!!) bring back different ladies every night, not ever has a door person or guard make a remark such as that.

http://www.wotif.com has 'mystery deal' for a hotel at 2600 bt until end of April. I booked this in Jan/2010 and again in Apr/2010 and it is the GM.
If you do the search for 'Sukhumvit' 4 star min rating it pops up on top of the search result list.

Hi snpark - I will be there same time as you. I checked every single booking site and ended up booking direct on hotel site (which was cheaper than Agoda)... just didn't have the balls to use "wotif" in case I ended up somewhere I didn't want. At least I will be guaranteed
a quiet room not overlooking Asok.
jgm - I will be returning later on in April and may take the gamble. Did you just get the standard room ? What is policy if you want an upgrade - will they adjust price from wotif rate - or will it be normal rate ?

The WOTIF booking puts you in a Deluxe room. Up on check in for my last visit (Jan/2010) I asked to be upgraded to a Grand Deluxe room. They had already upgraded me to the Grand Deluxe prior to check in. I had no history with the hotel until this 1st visit.
They offered to upgrade me to the Executive Club Room for a fee. Somewhere along the 1000 bt mark per night, but I can not remember exactly.

I've never stayed here, I assume it's a 3-4*. Similar to the Westin? How do the upgrade level rooms (Exec or "Grand Delux") compare to places like Park Plaza, Pullman, etc. How's the gym, breakfast, other resto's, etc.

You are kidding me I thought and read that this Hotel was pretty new and good and close to Soi cowboy.
I plan to stay at this ( ithought) because I could walk to Soi Cowboy plus it had a Pool. Maybe I should consider Dreams
