Just checked in with WOTIF, I think they added in Brk/2 at the 2500 bht rate. Maybe I didn't notice first time? Anyway, I went on their website and yes, 3000 and I'd get the points, but...no brk. So..... Also, I noticed that Dusit Thani was at 2990 including brk and free internet. How is this place after the shootout? Did they close and put some money into it, improve any elements? Just curious.

Getting into a time squeeze for booking, I remember screwing around before and having all my options reduce to the Westin, never again! Looks like the Meridien stays as the premier deal du jour, with WOTIF at 2500 inc brk/2, all inclusive taxes. I estimate that it's 800 bht/nt cheaper on WOTIF than any other offer (latestays/Expedia/etc.), allowing for the 2nd brk would increase it even more. How do they do it? If I purchase onsite Internet it'll add 500 or so per day, but...I would guess over 6 days it will still leave me with 7-15k bht in my pocket over the other 5 stars on the short list. A compelling deal, even if it makes the Suk a commute. Can't imagine the Grand Millenium at 3300 w/brk can match up for features/comfort/food.

Hey WackyJacky, Don't want to hijack the AP 23 thread when I saw you over there, so...do you know the WOTIF Suk mystery deal of the moment, 2500 and 3300 depending on days (same hotel) I think it's the Grand Millenium. Dithered too long and Le Meridien disappeared, as did most of the other "real" 5* for 2 weeks from now. He who hesitates is lost. Might have to bite the bullet and pay a lot more. Saw you were going to the PP (over on Trip Advisor). I like that place, especially the cafe, but the gym is insignificant.

JM: I couldn't figure out what your question was. When are you going ? Right now the GM is on Latestays for 2750. Yeah, I got the PP for $60 on Hotel Club. Then I'll be all over SE Asia for a couple weeks getting back early Dec. Best deals when I get back are with Starwood. SGS for 3200 (weekends) and 2X points or Meridien for 3000 and 2X. I'm going to take a look at the new Four Points next to the Westin too. 2500 which includes 4 beers at their new brewpub or rooftop bar, breakfast for 2, and 4X points. Can be snagged for 3000 starpoints also. Chock Dee; wj Oh yeah, Dream is available for $60 also.

WJ For me 5* only. Too much downtime, gotta be comfy. I'm checking in 22nd Sept, not much time left. Too much procrastinating. Or too much analysis. t

I'll post this here since it's 5* related. I got frozen out of WOTIF, didn't grab the SGS when it was 3200 and then waited too long for the Meridien 2500 deal. One of the problems with WOTIF is the rating system, where they have a lot of selections that are rated 5* but really are short of that standard. I'll have quite a bit of downtime next week so I wanted to be as comfortable as only a true 5* can make you, so... I found an interesting approach on another forum Flyertalk.com, a link to a Friends and Family discount code for the InterContinental. I'm all in, taxes etc., for $170's Executive Club Floor (Internet + brk. incl.) I could have gotten a standard room for less than $130. The next best deal on hand was SGS where a Dlx. would have been $140's and I probably would have been upgraded to Club with my Gold status. But... I've wanted to try the IC for a while so this was my chance. I'll make a report when I check out. I noticed the Meridien is back on WOTIF at 2500 bht, but I'll be gone before the rates become effective.
