Manowar, if you follow me around as close as you do (trying to get my goat) you should have noticed that I mentioned the Street One Lodge more then once. So you will nowhere see me stating that I will stay at Nana hotel when I'm in town.
When I hit the airport I will make a beeline to Soi 1, not Soi 4.
I will not say you could not get a better hotel for your baht then the Nana. But I take objection to people that say Nana is a garbage dump and never have even been inside it. Scobie comes to mind here. From visiting the lobby he knows what the rooms look like. Maybe all these members could combine their intellect and give out some upcoming winning lottery tickets, so we all can happily retire in BKK.
I thought this board was about informing people, not about MISinformation.
I'm not denying somebody got a dirty room, shit happens. But it never happened to me. Now what if it happened..... I then would :
A) call the cleaning lady
B) ask for a different room
C) if no to A and B then I would leave the hotel
Strangely nobody mentions this, so the feeling I get is that this thread boils down to unfounded hate-mail.
P.s. the reason WHY I stayed there in the last room for only one night is a funny little story in itself.
I wanted to travel light into Cambodia and I wanted to leave my big suitcase in BKK. Since I knew Nana has a storage room, I thought it would be a cheap and easy way to store my suitcase while I left the country. So after I returned and prepared to leave BKK for the flight home I wanted to get my suitcase out of storage. Well it took me about as much trouble as Bush would have getting his army out of Iraq. The doorman checked me out and wanted to know if my bill was payed. And since I could only produce a bill that was more then a week old, that was way too much for his tiny brain. So it took a lot of talking to get my suitcase. At the time it annoyed me to no end, but you could also say that they guard MY property as if it was their own. So I will put this, the only annoyence I had from the Nana Hotel, on their good side and not hold it against them. Atleast the doorman is taking his job seriously.

BloodyHell-man,
We don't need to look at the rooms or even the lobby. Just the fact that you have stayed there is enough evidence for me to avoid this "lengendary" hotel like a plague.

i am sure the girl want to close the light to cover the fact that she had a baby so you wont see the room. And in the morning you will go up and give food to the moonks and then visit all the temples in the area. So you want see shit

A recent review of Nana from Feb of 2006 from a travel site:
First impressions of the hotel are not too bad. The location is quite interesting (oppsite the infamous Nana Plaza) and the reception is ok. The staff were a little surly but not too bad.
It all goes a bit downhill on the way to the room. The corridors are dim with filthy carpets, totally uninviting. Then when you get in the room you ar ein for a shock. I had a "deluxe" room, which seemed straight out of the 70s and hadn't been cleaned since, with some very bad stains on the carpet. There was a smell of damp, the bathroom was filthy and overall it was unwelcoming and dingy. I should have checked out but was too tired. The aircon was really loud but enough to drown out the noise of the street below.
The disco in the hotel transformed into a pick up joint after 12, around the time Nana Plaza closes up. I didn't dare try the swimming pool, although quite a few men got in the lift in their swimming trunks on their way (I assume that's where they were going).
So there is nothing I can do to recommend this place. If you are looking for something close to Sukhumvit try anywhere else, even at 1700 baht it wasn't worth it, it spoiled a pretty nice trip to Bangkok.
Now a review from a backpacker:
I always stay at the Nana Hotel when I come to Bangkok. The air conditioned rooms are inexpensive (1100 Baht or $28US) in reasonable condition. Free bottled drinking water is provided in the room refrigerator every day. the bathrooms are clean. room service is excellent. a small tip of $2 is highly appreciated by the very friendly staff. If you are a single guy, there are plenty of "beer bars" and "go go bars" right outside. The "Angels Disco" downstairs is really rocking every night and filled with beautiful friendly Thai girls. There is a great restaurant adjacent to the lobby open 24 hours a day and serves both Thai and western food. this is a great hotel! "

This is this the most misrepresentative account of the Nana hotel I have ever seen. If your thinking about going to this hotel just ignore this post. I couldn't figure it out until I saw who had posted it

If you had actually read the posting you would see that those reviews were not my personal reviews but were from a travel site. That is why the two reviews are exact opposites.
