Can anyone help in WOT mystery deals? Searching
for June:
- A 5 star Wot Hotel in the heart of Bangkok. Sky train and Subway stations right at hotel's gate. Pat Pong Night Bazaar and Silom-Taniya nightlife within 3-5 minute walk!
@2999 = Le Meridien or Dusit Thani?

As the Dusit Thani has an outdoor pool and 35 and 30 sqm rooms.

Checking in on Monday, May 2. Just hit WOTIF Mystery deals for the Suk and it looks like the Renaissance is 3000 with Brk. Anyone got a better 5* of the moment? I'm always concerned about the gym and the brk, saw good reviews for the food, nothing so far on the gym.
Haven't stayed here before and it looks like this deal is too good to pass on...

The Metropolitan is on Jetsetter for $75 this week. Only stayed there 1 nite on a layover. Didn't see the gym, but it's def 5* IMO. Dates through Sept. Considering the price - I guess it's not the coolest place in town anymore. PM me your e-mail if you need a membership invite to Jetsetter. wj

jimmymac, I did not see the gym and their website doesn't have a picture of it. But there are some pictures of it on Agoda however only showing some treadmills. The pool is pretty impressive so if it's anything like the pool it should be pretty damn good.

I'm locked and loaded at 3,000 with brk. I know the 'Net is a gouge price, I'll deal with it given my low base cost. I don't have Marriott Gold anymore since I play the field with WOTIF/Agoda/Priceline, so no upgrades to Club floor, I wonder if there is a cash price at the front desk?
I'll give a full report when I've got my boots on the ground.

Few days into the Renaissance, initial update.
The walk from the BTS is reasonable, if it's really hot, and daytime, you can cut through the commercial center adjacent. The place is a 5* light, which is fine for the price I paid of 3,000/nt, including brk. Surprise is, they seem to have included WiFi with it, perhaps because I'm Marriott member? I'll find out definitively when I check out, I've learned not to delve to deep into these issues unless called upon.
Room is chic, great glassed in bathroom, no fully enclosed w/c, you obscure the throne with the door by opening it fully into the bathroom. The bath is immediately the other side of the bed, so perhaps 2 feet with just the glass wall in between. Nice. Shower has a very good "rain" fixture in the ceiling, beware the cold water loaded pipes when you first turn it on.
Breakfast is pretty good, a mini-JWM. Very good coffee, very good service, Exec Chef usually around and willing to talk and see to your interests. He had a special Egg' Benedict made for me using a different ham, excellent! The Italian rest. La Tavola, is very good for the setting. The Chinese is reputedly quite good, Tattler #1 for its type, but that cuisine is about the hardest for a single traveler to order, and I don't want any takeaway so it doesn't work for me.
The gym has a reasonable layout, equipment doesn't suit me, but better that most. Pool is quite nice, no drinks service during the weekdays, so far. The change room is quite small, with small sauna and steam.
Initial impression; In the, or very close to, Top 5 5*, due to location, amenities, general comfort.
