Was at GP about 2 week ago. I saw the joiner notice on the website where I booked, Asiatravel.com. No problem at all. Didn't even take girls ID but I suspect in Tower I that might be different. I was in II which in undergoing renovations and control is lose. However, I don't think the joiner fee thing happens, particularly with the higher prices of late. Problem I have been having lately is getting there and finding out the room is not available for another hour, even when arriving at 8PM or that the room is not available at all but they have another shit room they are happy to put me in. After maybe 30 stays the last 5-6 have been a bit of a let down and I am considering working up the energy to try something new. So, I have problems with the place but there are still no joiner fees.

What the hell is up with this place? I have stayed at the GP about every 6 weeks for the last year or so and the price just keeps going up. I am there next week and now paying over $100 per night for a room I paid about $65 last year. I'm a bit stuck this time but this is the last time. Its got good rooms and is girl friendly and located well but they are getting really greedy and I notice the clientele is changing with the prices.

I stayed there in Nov. and no joinder fee. There are guards who sometimes ask for ID but you can just wave them off and they don't hassle you. I personally like the hotel.

I stayed at the GP this past September and I had a very good experience. As others posted the hotel is "girl friendly" and the staff was very accommodating. I didn't have any problems bringing ladies to my room and there was no joiner fee. I stayed in one of the "Executive" rooms (a little larger than the Opal or Topaz rooms) in Tower 1. Personally I like the Grand President and I've already booked a room for my next trip to Thailand.

I don't like the constant price increases and the lower service attitude but after a real shit experience at the Key, I'm headed back to GP in December. More good than bad.

I just returned from BKK a week ago While in BKK I stayed at the Grand President for 10 days. I had a room in Tower 2. I was very satisfied with the room and service. Also the GP is still very "guest" friendly with no joiner fee. I repeatedly took ladies up to my room and there were no hassels what-so-ever. This was my third stay at the GP and for my next trip to BKK I intend to stay there again.

For me the President Park has had a noticeable drop in quality over the past couple of years.This has been my hotel of choice for my last few visits, this has now changed.
I booked a suite for 4 days last month, the suite was ok apart from the shower was pretty crap.
My plans changed after 4 days so I decided to stay another day, in the morning I notified reception I needed an additional night but unfortunatley there where no suites available and my room was all ready booked out.
Ok no prob I choose an exec studio, packed up and moved across the street.Arrived at my new room with a hangover hoping the card would work as i've had this prob in the past and had to drag my bags back across the street to receiption.
Great, they double booked this room which resulted in me giving some old dude a fright as I opened his door.
Back down to receiption and wait another 10 mins for them to sort out the mess, they apologise and give me an upgrade.Back to the new room walk in and the smell of dampness is really bad, the safe is also locked.I'm tired and dont want to continue with this to I decide to stay, I call receiption about the safe and they say they will send someone up.After 5 mins waiting I realise I cant stay in this smelly room as I feared for my health, I called receiption again complaining about the smell,they inform me they have no other rooms and they will send someone with air freshner.After 5 more minutes I decide screw this im checking out.
I arrive a reception yet again with my bags and within 2 mins they have me another room before I even asked.I decided third time lucky as I really didnt want to get in a taxi, anyway the room was fine.
With all this hassle, i'll never stay there again.
