Thinking about trying the Majestoc Grande this next trip. Says on the link from bkktonite forum that the 2900 baht includes free local calls in BKK. Anyone know if this will work on a modem, and do they cut you off after 15 minutes? 500 Baht a day for the high speed is a bit much just to mainly check your email a couple times - i'm not going to spend much time on the internet.

I stay at the Majestic Suites most times when I am in Bangkok. A bit closer to Nana and the rooms are clean and a bit cheaper than their sister property the Majestic Grande. That being said, I inquired with one of the hotel staff during my last visit and was quoted 2500 baht for the regular room and that would include free high speed internet. So, if you are a regular at Majestic Suites call them and ask what they can do for you at the Grande. This particular hotel staff member likes me a bit more than just a hotel guest so that may have had something to do with the "special price" but never hurts to ask. Regardless, your room price will be cheaper at the Maj. Grande if you book through Maj. Suites.

That is true that you can get the 2500 rate if you book it through Majestic Suites (and the girl at the desk knows you very well - like me). Otherwise, it will be 2700 baht through Majestic Suites. Still cheaper than 2900. However, after doing the special rate through majestic suites about 10 times, you will find it more difficult. At least I know I did. They don't want that to be a permanent price. They are doing it to try to get guests to check out the new hotel. One thing you lose getting the "special" rate through purchasing at Majestic Suites is you do not get free breakfast like you do if you pay the 2900 at the Grande.
And the free wireless internet is bull. No way are they offering that. I guarantee you are mistaken there. It's 550 baht per day.

Well sunshine, I will take the deal during the next trip and find out if it is indeed bull as you seem to think. Did not seem to be any confusion when I asked several times if she was "sure" she could get me free internet. Seemed 100% sure this would not be a problem. Did mention that it did not include breakfast. I usually miss that at Maj. Suites anyway so big deal.

It would not be the first time I've gotten a great rate on a hotel room and free high speed internet. I stayed at the Hyatt in Arlintgon, Virginia for $46 per night with free high speed internet. Hyatt is a fairly respectable hotel chain and not the usual motel 6 type joint you usually call home. Sunshine was not a come on but a comment on your sunny disposition which explains why you most likely would have to pay for high speed internet no matter where you choose to stay. Maybe try smiling the next time you stay at Maj. Suites and maybe, just maybe you will get the same offer. No wonder you have to look for love even in LOS.
