just to keep this thread alive for any newcomers wanting to know about this hotel, I'll be arriving there next week for my fifth stay in the past year prices have been steady, but special offers are available due to low occupancy I've punted around the hotel sites like agoda and that but GP seems to offer the best deals on their own website (and no need to prepay) when I've arrived from UK at about 8am i've always got straight into a room last visit I booked about a month ahead, then two weeks later I saw a cheaper deal for the same room, so I cancelled and rebooked I have been upgraded several times in the past, they know your history if you book with the same details rooms are not that great, but at 1700 baht all in with a great buffet breakfast and all taxes included for a one week stay the GP is a steal when you have to pay 1300 to 1500 baht for shitholes(imho) like the Federal or the Park just along the road still girl friendly

I loved this place last time around. Had the front desk hold my luggage while I walked down to Soi 7 Beergraden, got an FL, had lunch at Gullivers and checked in with her on my arm. 100% Girl Friendly. Will return soon. I have booked a Tower 3 room for one week in late September. Got an Early Bird discount of 20% (1600 Baht/ night). If you like Majestic Suites but are claustrophobic, then GP is the place for you. Here's what you get at Tower 3 - Nice new tower blocks with well appointed rooms. Excellent service, great staff. Kitchenette with microwave, full sized fridge. Free wired internet in room. CD Player + Bookshelf music system (TV is included but I never use). LARGE electronic safe, will accomodate a large laptop. 100% GF, no walk of shame in tower 3 Centrally located with Spice Club next door. Eden, Beer Garden and Nana a short walk away. However the Soi is clean wide and not crowded despite being bang in the middle of the action.

I like the President's too, but: You guys might want to consider the new President Palace just 100 m. deeper into Soi 11... About 2500 for a brand new 4* hotel with really spacious rooms... had a look at'em... brilliant! GP is a bit beyond its prime imho... especially tower 3 where you get with the discount rates... had a shitty room there 1 yr. ago.

I just returned from my trip to BKK. While I was there I stayed at the Grand President. I stayed there several times before and alway had an enjoyable experience. This time I was booked into a 1 bedroom suite in Tower 2. Very nice and comfortable room with TV/DVD,Washer/Dyer and mirco-kitchen. Yes, unfortunately the place is starting to show its age. Still as others reported the GP is very convenient, guest friendly, good staff and good service all at a pretty good price. I enjoy the place and I will probably book again when I next return to BKK. Although the "President" hotel just down the street looked interesting as well. Anyway I would recommend the GP. CAPT D

I recently completed my 7 day stay at GP as previously mentioned. I got a free upgrade on the basic Tower 3 room. On arrival the front desk apologised for not having that room available so upgraded me further to the Tower 2 one-bedroom suite (same room CapnD describes, 60sqm, two lcd TVs, DVD). Who's gonna argue with that? as with previous posters, everything about my stay was perfect (remember what I'm paying here, this is not Mandarin Oriental standard). Am back again late September also, room already booked but am looking for any last minute deals, and maybe another free upgrade.

I used to stay at the GP Tower 3 but I am avoiding it right now as I finally found it quite noisy. These typical lobby-noises get easily through the doors: - internal staff floor-phones ringing early morning - maids walking with loud talkie/walkies - doors slamming... I found Citadines Soi 8 much better in a similar price range (brand new rooms, quiet location...). Only drawback is the tiny swimming pool. Latrell

i am a fan of the GP. but I 2nd and third that it is getting a bit old. and the noise from the birds in tower 2 can be annoying. love the staff and breakfast there. i have now changed to their sister property president palace as mentioned earlier. just nex door down th soi. spankin brand new, clean, quiet and modern. cannot beat the rates online. 2300bht for standard and I thought it was pretty spacious for basic room. LCD tv, fridge, safe, modern bathroom, no tub. AC was hard to get just right. bed was nice. nice pool area and gym. staff is good but I liked the doormen at GP better. they would rate my partners for the night with a smile, raised eyebrow or shake of the head. pros clean, new hotel smell, quiet, great rates online, good location, nice pool cons better breakfast at GP, AC a little wanky give it a try
