I just reserved their 58m one bedroom for about $800 for 14 days.
Thaihoteldiscounts, http://www.thaihoteldiscounts.com/ reports that Jasmine Suites are no longer girl friendly. That joiners are charged even when a double is booked.

Definately NOT true at all.

About 1.5 years ago they started putting up some sign at the desk about a 500 B joining fee, but I think it is bullshit, and never enforced.

Not to mention the fact that nobody is around after 2 am, and you just go from the entrance right up the elevator to your room.

I spent at least six or seven months living there the past year, they leave me alone, and I don't think they get into anyone elses business either.

Baquawn,

I will be interested to hear about your trip. When are you staying there?

Yes Jasmine have indeed had the signs advising Joiners are payable for some time but they were never enforced.

Heard from some members that Jasmine have started enforcing it recently.

They were not happy as they were loyal Jasmine customers. They sent me an email to advise others. I then checked with Jasmine and it has been done just within the last 3 months.

We then had to stop promoting it, and a damn shame as we used to sell loads of rooms there.

You may well be lucky and get away from paying. Pls let us know?

Email from Bangkok Tonight memeber sent to me.

The email from Jasmine is pasted below. I have stayed there in the past and there was no joiner fee (which they previously stated in an email) but this now seems to have changed.

Thanks again.

My email from them this week did not say anything about a joiner fee, but I am a frequent customer, and also I tip the bellhops very good.

My friend who is also a long time customer stayed there last week for a week. He did not have any problems either.

If people are afraid of a joiner fee that is cool by me. It keeps the Farang Ghetto crawlers out.

I;ve had some 14 odd trips, stayed at numerous places and still never been asked for a :joiners fee"
Maybe they figure its easier to let me pass than have to put up with my complaints in broken Thai,,, or they just figure I'mlucky to get ANY gal and leave the poor sucker alone,,,,LOL.
YMMV

I'm staying in one of the 58sqm room right now at the Jasmine. I didn't ask about the joiner fee since I'm staying with my TGF, but I could if anyone is interested.

Things I don't like about the room are:
1) Very little storage space for your clothes in the bedroom;
2) The bathroom shower leaks onto the floor unless you hold the shower head with one hand. Pain in the butt since I like both hands free to shower (or whatever) ;
3) They charged an additional 2,100+bt for a month's Internet access. I want the 24 hour highspeed (?) access, but I'm already paying enough for the room.

Everything else is fine. We have a room where we can look down and see the Baccara end of Soi Cowboy.

After 4 nights in the Westin, really can't complain about anything. I would like to complain about the 2 stage elevator... but can't after the walk past the lobby bar and all those lovely waitresses.

I was here for 3 nights on points, then switched to the 4 nights for 3 rate. I had to pay for internet on the free nights, but it seems I am getting internet for free now.

I got a room on a floor that is marked Starwood Preferred Guest. I think this is an upgrade from the standard room. Larger than I had expected.

To me, the Sheraton comes across as a bit higher class and service is unmatched. But with the lobby bar, and a pool that is not always filled with families... Westin suits me just fine.

Stayed at SGS in July. After booking my reservations, received the obligatory upsale e-mail from the hotel offering their limo and airport VIP services. Decided to try both this time.

My flight got in after 22:00 from Narita. SGS staff met me at the gate and escorted me to the immigration area. I was expecting to get an express ride in one of those airport golf carts, but instead we humped it on foot. I zipped through immigration at the Thailand Elite counter. SGS staff then took me to the baggage claim where I waited and waited, probably losing the time I just saved at immigration. Once I got my bag, SGS staff radio'd for the hotel car and escorted me out to the curb. Jumped in to the Mercedes, next stop SGS. A minor slow down at a construction zone on the way, but we made good time none the less. Got to SGS, driver radio'd the front desk during the security check at the entrance. We pull up to the main entrance, hotel staff greets me at the car and escorts me direct to a waiting elevator. Up at the room, I sign in and get the room keys. 1 minute later, my bag arrives. Mission complete.

Overall, OK service for the price paid. Not sure if I'd try it again soon, but if I do I'll probably only opt for the hotel car service, especially if a late night arrival. I found the VIP Airport Service mostly "hurry up and wait". Recommend these SGS services for upscale, 1st time BKK visitors, or SPG point whores (like me) interested in maximizing the points earned per stay.

This VIP service sounds pretty good. Do other 4-5 star hotels provide this service or is it unique to the Sheraton. I am staying at the Landmark at the end of this month but might change it for the first week to the Sheraton to take advantage of this VIP service. If anyone has any info please post.

Staying at Westin using Starwood points (would never pay the rates they charge now). Not sure why, but I got upgraded to an executive room. So I get free breakfast and internet access.

The breakfast in the Club room was much better than I expected. Included hot entrees as well; spanish eggs, sausages, and potatoes this morning. Just the thing for jet lag and the 12 hour time difference.

Hotel is still very girl-friendly.

The waitresses in the lobby bar are as attractive as ever... but 425 for a pint of Kilkenny?
