I agree Jai Guru. I always stay at the Nana. Stay there every time I go to Bkk. There is nothing like its ambience and price not to mention its location. I could stay at the Marriot or Landmark but why spend the money there when all I need is a fairly clean place with a shower and good air con. 2 things you will not have to bitch about staying in the hotel, it always has hot water and cold air conditioning. Love meeting the characters in the lobby in the morning and evening, some great tales to be told. Over the last 5 years I have met lots of great guys and see them there every time I return. As former Marine and Vietnam Vet, I have met some really interesting guys there. As for a newbie, it can't be beat for price or location for fun times. I love the Nana Parking Lot Scene after the bars close. Have met some great girls wandering around looking for a hookup. I sometimes just check it out to see if I can find a girl that interests me, I'm pretty picky so sometimes go back to my room and sleep but still have fun. Service from the Desk staff for me has been good as I personally know several of them that work there.

I'm thinking of bringing one of those purple fluorescant lights (CSI special) that show up blood and the "MONEY SHOTS THAT MIGHT HAVE MISSED THEIR INTENDED TARGET". Could be a case of more 'money shots' than wall ! Yikes !!

There are no in-room safes - just the safety deposit box at reception
Would have preferred the in-room safe not just for convenience but additionally wouldn't have needed to deal with some of the surly reception/cashier staff

I'm planning to try out this hotel, are there any bathtubs in the standard room. If not I may intend to upgrade to a 3star hotel around that area, any recomendations? Can anyone help me with this? thanks!

What, the Nana's not at least a 3-star! I thought it was pretty much that - the online booking agencies swerved between 2 & 1/2 to 3 & 1/2.
Regarding bathtubs, I had a standard room & yes there was a bathtub, overall the bathroom was below par - not my place for entertaining, unless you're into the Brady Bunch Decor, and why is there a pulse tone telephone in there ? One of the mysteries of the Nana Hotel

Because the fixtures at the Nana are from the Jimmy Carter administration. Including sheets, furniture, phones, tv, rugs.

The original ads for the Nana Hotel list it as a 2 star hotel, strangely enough. Considering that it was boasting the largest swimming pool in BKK, and probably looked new at the time, surprised they didn't say 3 star.

Yes, I remember the Nana! A nice four story hotel at the time. The old pool was very nice and I still have a picture of a much younger and slimmer coming me out of it. Stayed there my first time in 1973 on a trip from up-country to Bangkok. Also spent my wedding night in 1974 there. First time I had ever seen a telephone in a bathroom.
Got married (signed the register) in Bangkok in 1974. My bride never having traveled to Bangkok with me, as that was seen as improper for a nice young Lady of the time to do, wanted to stay in the same Hotel she heard my friends and I talk about. Now have been “young, dumb, and full of cum” I had brought back many a lady back there. Problem was my bride sort of frowned on that sort of thing. She never worked in a bar and spoke very little English. To get her to agree marry me I to stop being a butterfly or a least in my mind stop doing it where she see me do it. Thus a monthly trip to Bangkok was just the thing. The morning of my wedding I told the Nana staff the Lady I would be bringing home that night would be my true love and my wife. They looked at me in disbelief! Butterfly guying getting married. Wow!
We I arrived back with my wife they had moved off the second floor where they normally put me amd my butterfly friends on to a new floor, I think it was the fourth. This is were I learned they put families. The rooms we nicer and they never put guys bringing back ladies there. The staff and bell boys, now these we the same guys who always supplied me with ladies, acted as if I always stayed on that floor. No hint was made of my past life. My wife was impressed! That started 31 plus years of bliss which only ended in her death.
Yes, I remember the Nana!
