I have heard various opinions on emerald hotel (whether it is guest friendly or not), does anyone has any experience or know someone who has stay in this hotel.

i stayed there last november. had to paid 600 bht each time i brought a girl up to my room. can't really sneak them in, as they have staff posted near the elevator banks.

Now it is not guest friendly. 600 Baht Joiner Fees will be are charged by the hotel staff.

A travel agent booked a deluxe room in Emerald for me for a 1-nighter when all hotel rooms in the city had been booked solid at the end of the year in Dec 2005. The room there was not that bad despite a bit overpriced.
They had a guy at the elevator lobby in the evening till well into the wee hours. He was there of course to check out who was going up the elevator. I did not spot any fellow sanuker or any Nana type girl in the hotel in daytime or nightime. Majority of the patrons was family group. One would be totally out of place to walk in with an Issan puying at any time of the day. I had anticipated this happening and did not bring girl to test their guest policy.
Even if it doesn't charge for a joiner, I would not bother to use this hotel again. This place is simply not for sanukers. Better leave it alone, gentlemen.

Double checked with my friend staying with Palazzo and he said Emerald is still charging 600 baht joiner fee. I like the hotel better than Palazzo but not when I am dragging in different girls every day and having to pay the joiner fee. My friend said as long as you register the guest, there won't be a joiner fee for her.
Every time we go eat at Daichi, the elevator guy is there.

Yes, Saucytim, I was that bad boy giving you last minute notice ( 3-day notice ) for booking the 1-night accommodation in the very peak travel period.
I understood you tried every possible way to find me a room in Hotel Palazzo, which is one of my favorite. However many sanuk Bros were in town celebrating New Year and all rooms in Palazzo were sold out.
