Well lads, in a scant four weeks there's going to be a new airport in town: Suvarnabhumi After checking the place out today I can say one thing is for sure: the Novotel Suvarnabhumi has got no competition anywhere near it. See the Novotel page here: Suvarnabhumi The hotel is tucked up as close to the main airport terminal as any I've ever seen. 300 metres close, as a matter of fact. No word yet on discos, spas or special services available, but it sure looked inviting.

Note: This is a duplicate paste of mine from the airport thread. Since there are several good shots of the hotel in the link provided, I thought it wouldbe worth copying here: ______________________________________________________ Monday, I got a wild hair and decided to play tourist- went to check out the new airport. I started off by going to the On Nut BTS were I intended to catch the aircon-552 bus which would have taken me directly to the terminal. But after waiting well over 40 minutes- possibly getting distracted and missing one- I hailed a taxi and off we went. The route from Sukhumvit is a very direct one via the Bang Na Rd. We then came up a perimeter road which would be at the bottom of the map in the link I'll soon supply. Once we got out to the Suvarnabhumi Public Transport Terminal [bus station] the meter read 185 Baht. About the same price as I pay from my to apartment to Don Muang, actually. After walking around a bit I got invited on a free Airport Shuttle Bus tour that they seem to run throughout the day. I couldn't tell whether they ran this on a schedule, or when they had X number of people assembled. But I did get a complimentary map of the airport [a part of which is what I scanned], a refrigerator magnet, and an I Love the King bumper sticker. Most of the pics I took during the tour, I've posted online for your viewing pleasure: Sanam Bin Suvarnabhumi Enjoy! PS- Still in the mood to play tourist, once the tour was over, I jumped on the Victory Monument bus where the gal asked for 35 Baht.
