Any info on promotion rates? billgreen678 wrote there is one as low as 1000B for the opening in August. Could be a very good hotel, near BTS, new and quiet!

I can purchase Marriot Gift cards at a 15% discount if anyone is interested in staying at this hotel or another in Marriot in Thailand. $50 card for $42.50 or $100 for $85. Not sure if this helps much with the rate but 15% is 15%. PM me if interested.

The Marriott employee told me that it is scheduled to open in mid-August but they said it is questionable as to whether it will be ready. I saw it from the skytrain yesterday. Lots of workmen there.
Really I don't know, but usually these promotional rates are available only if you book directly with the hotel. I've stayed in Marriotts in Bangkok for the past 4 years (more than 100 stays) I always book directly with the hotel and probably 85% of my stays have been at less than the (Marriott site) internet rates.
In the Thursday edition of Bangkok Post, usually these promotional rates for Bangkok hotels are listed in the "Holiday" or "Travel" section.
But since most of us aren't in Bangkok to read this paper (I think this isn't included I the Bkk Post web site) maybe the users of this board who normally stay at JW can ask at JW and then inform the rest of us on this board when the new hotel opens and when the promotional rate is available.

September/October has always been the confirmed date for the soft opening...
I saw the mockup rooms couple of weeks ago and I did not like it that much....tiny rooms, with "minimalist style", ie nothing special....direct competitor is the Holiday Inn Bangkok, which is offering some of the smallest rooms in town! Now that's a nice fight!

The Marriott Courtyard is their 4 star brand and aimed at the business traveller on a budget. Offers basic room but not much else. Only one all day dining cafe and limited spa etc facilities that the 5 star has.
The builders have been told to finish on Aug 12th the Queesn Birthday. As is normaly in Thailand, nothing is ever on time.
